Just had an odd thought...how many Figures that have been released have "Shooting Missiles" you know the old school Spring Loaded ones that they would have recalled due to the dangers of kids shooting them down their throats. [Remember that's the reason they recalled the Springs on the old Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper]

So far looking around my room at the Transformers I have....there are few ones that actually "Shoot" missiles.

Here's my list so far of the ones I have that shoot missiles:

    Energon Command/Battle Ravage
    Energon Arcee [And her repaints]
Cybertron Thundercracker [and his movie repaint dreadwing]
    Cybertron Blurr
    Universe Optimus Primal
    Universe Starscream
    Universe Acid Storm
Cybertron Evac [And his Repaints Blades and Springer]
    Universe Galvatron
    Unicron
    Universe Durge
Movie Breakaway [Repaint of Cybertron Hot Shot]
    Classics Rodimus
Cybertron Crumplezone [And his Repaint Dark Crumplezone]
    Animated Starscream
    Animated Blitzwing
    Animated Swindle
    Armada Tidal Wave
Cybertron Buzzsaw [Though he doesn't have springloaded missiles he has those hand fired ones]
Cybertron Megatron [Beast Mode Version has the one in his tail]
Armada Thundercracker [And the other Armada Jets]
    Beast Wars Inferno
Energon Megatron -He has his mini-tank gun that shoots a missile
Cybertron Optimus Prime -His Trailer has a Missile shooter
Movie Starscream -Those horridly designed missile launchers that shoot off at the slightest touch.

I've just noticed that there are fewer newer bots that do shoot missiles, if they have the missiles they usually are either hand fired or they don't shoot far]

Anyone else list the ones that do have Missile Firing Action?

    Let's see...

-G1 Prowl Re-Issue (okay, so his missiles don't actually shoot, but the original toy had them)
-Armada Optimus Prime (it's in his trailer/super mode left leg. Shoots pretty darn far, too)
-The Sea Mini-con team; Stormcloud, Oceanglide, and Waterlog (presure fired, range sucks)
-Armada Hot Shot (the infamous Axlezooka)
-Armada Smokescreen (missile launcher hidden in crane arm, spring is kinda weak)
-Armada Starscream (his version of the null laser cannons, over-the-sholder powerlinx with Swindle)
-Energon Optimus Prime (I actually don't have the missile, but from looking at the gun's spring I'd say it's a mid-range firing type)
-Movie Optimus Prime, Leader (the missile doesn't go to far)
-Movie Optimus Prime, voyager (okay, this guy has some powerful missiles)
-Movie Starscream, original release (mid-range missiles, I leave 'em in as they're supposed to look like his "exploding fingers" or something)
-Movie Brawl, Deluxe (pretty powerful tank turret cannon)
-Movie Dreadwing (Decent range flame-shaped missiles)
-Universe 2.0 Dropshot (Cyb. Def. Scattorshot repaint, got a ton of sculpted missiles but only two that fire, and they don't go even half the distance the Sea mini-con's missiles do.)
-Movie Mudflap/Universe 2.0 Erector (cyber-planet key activated missile launcher, it's decent but it's the spring that flips the acutal launcher foward that's to weak to hold the launcher fowards and upside down!)
Animated Megatron, Leader (Okay, his cannon puts Ralphie's blue-steel Red rider BB gun from A Christmas Story to shame in terms of potentialy shooting someone's eye out, it's that powerful)
-Universe 2.0 Acid Storm (Classics Seeker, his hyperion3 blasters are neat and fire well, but one is loose while the other is tight.)
-Armada Unicron, original release (3 missiles on each leg plus his giant BFM [Big Freaking missile] in his chest. It's keeping his chest missile in that's the problem for me!)
Armada Tidal Wave (didn't have the missiles when I got him, but I'd say so-so in power from what the springs look like)
FAB Frenzy (the disc never shoots more than 2 feet. Tops. and don't ask why I own this toy either, please)

Still though...I found it odd now that in all my years of collecting Transformers...that there have been a good many that fire missiles!

Also noticed that just about all the Armada and Energon Series figures have Missile Launchers....

And the RID Bots had them too.....

So many have firing missles. Lio Convoy came with 6. Even though he only has enough shooters for 4.

That alone makes me want to get Universe Nemesis Prime.....I LIKE Bots with super powerful missile shooters.

I do remember the first time I had Armada Demolisher I lost one of his missiles that fired off somewhere in my old room in the house I lived in for quite awhile before we ended up starting to move around....I'm sure many of us who's moved have had MIA Missiles that we never located even when we moved furniture around to find it.

If you want super powerful missile launchers, get diaclone. My first diaclone was J59 Jeep aka Hound and a Battle Buffalo. The missile launchers are not even 1 inch long and the missile is even smaller. yet they pack a PUNCH!!!! Battle Buffalo can shoot a missile clear across a room with ease. I say about a good 20-25 feet distance. same with my jeep.

I've also noticed a pattern somewhat:

    Voyager Class Usually Have Missiles
Ultra Class Always have some sort of Missiles
Leader Class ALWAYS has a missile or two
Supreme Class Always has MORE THAN a dozen or at least a big missile with it

Deluxe Classes I've noticed seem to be mixed as to who has missiles or not.

Anybody remember the G2 Cyberjets? I've always thought they had the coolest missiles - no springs or levers, just physics.

Hmm let's see, for my stuff...

    G1 (originals/reissues):
Optimus Prime (Probe thing with firing missles, plus spring-loaded Rollar though he doesn't quite count for this)
    Ultra Magnus
    Perceptor
    Jazz
    Ricochet
    Prowl
    Smokescreen
    Inferno (firing hands)
    Starscream
    Skywarp
    Thundercracker
Grimlock (though the spring on his launcher doesn't work anymore)
    Hound
    Blitzwing

(I do have Sideswipe, Red Alert, Grapple, Skids, Tracks and Bluestreak as well but those are all the HC reissues with no springs in them for some silly reason. I just picked up Encores of Trailbreaker, Hoist, Ironhide and Ratchet but have yet to fiddle with them but I'm assuming yes on them too?)

    Classics:
    Jetfire
    Hot Rod
    Starscream
    Skywarp
    Thundercracker
    Acid Storm
    Ramjet

    Animated:
    Starscream
    Skywarp
    Blitzwing

    Movie:
    Ironhide
    Starscream

This list here seems smaller than I thought it would be.

I think I'd rather not have launchers with missiles at all.

Off my Classics/Universe shelf, it's all the Seekers, Jetfire, Hot Rod, and Grimlock.

Only the Seekers still have them loaded as they're null rays and such are supposed to look like that. Everything else is displayed empty-barrel.

I actually dislike firing missles. Especially on Transformers. Transformers don't need a gimmick, they transform.
