When was the TF:TM written?? was it during season 2 after season 2 or during season. And no I am not going to go into that debate again as who should of been dead and who should of survived theory cause honestly half of the threads is covering the movie. But what I would like to know is ,is their any Autobots or Decepticons that got killed during that 20 year gap between the end of season 2 and The Movie? or where they almost all killed in The Movie?
The feature film was written during the earliest phases of season 2. That is why characters like the coneheads, Perceptor and Blaster appeared- their toys were a lock for release. It is mostly the combiners and Omega Supreme who didn't make the cut for the film due to them not being ready for release when the animated film was written. As far as deaths, pretty much the movie is the only time anyone died in the series.
thye ever gonna explore the 20 year time gap as to what all happened events wise between thened of season 2 and the movie?
I wouldn't mind that. I season 2.5 five of sorts, just to explain how Ultra Magnus and co. arrived on Earth and how Autobot City was built and how the Decepticons conquered Cybertron. You know, all those things that just appeared out of nowhere. At the very least I'd like to see it in comic form. Please IDW?!
What's the source for this date? According to what I've researched (in trying to get a more accurate estimate of TFTM's production budget), Ron Friedman's original (unproduced) first draft was dated November 12, 1984. At that point, G1 Season 1 had only been on the air for two months. And knowing the history of the production time involved for animated TV series, it's likely that all of Season 1's 16 episodes weren't completed yet when the show began to air in the fall of '84. Here's a thread for reference with sources I cited with documented dates for pre-production on TFTM: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans.../372366-unicron-decepticon-6.html#post5724115 I'm going to check with David Wise to see when he drafted his first TF script for G1 Season 2. It will help give a better timeframe on this.
The japanese-Only episode Scramble City shows Ultra Magnus on earth overseeing the construction of Autobot City/ Metroplex but there really wasn't much as far as an actual explanation. Fun to check out though.
This is the second thing I'd love to see. First is "Transformers #81" continuing the story and style of the Marvel book (Furman recently expressed interest in this). Having a comic that picked up after Season 2 and kept the same feel and style of the cartoon would be cool. Keep each issue as a complete story with a two-parter here and there. It could never happen though, because IDW wouldn't want to "write down" to the cartoon level where you can't maim or kill off characters.
Dreamwave's comics were going to fill in the season 2.5 gap. In the final issue we see Autobot city taking shape. Sadly it wasn't meant to be.
We see in the 5 part episode Five Faces Of Darkness that Metroplex's transformation cog being destroyed, was it destroyed in The Movie or in Scramble City when he was fighting Trypticon under Prime's command?
here it is again Damaged transformation cog prevented it. the cog was damaged durring the opening attack
