Got these today at work in a case of Hasbro licensed Googly Bands, other themes were Monopoly, My Little Pony, etc.

For those of you that don't know, these things are like this generation of kid's equivalent to Pogs. At their peak we were selling like several hundred dollars worth of these things a week.

I'm actually glad to see these exist, because a month or so ago someone told me they did and I never saw them.

I don't understand these things. At all. They're friggin' rubber bands.

Up next: Object-shaped scraps of paper!

    Ugh, really?

Those things are such a stupid waste of money, and I know a thing or two about stupid wastes of money (I mean, I do collect toys afterall, used to play various tcgs too).

They're useless, shaped rubber bands. I mean...WTF. Pogs you could at least play a game with, same for trading card games, but these are just stupid. Hell even that sport stacking cup thing has at least some value in comparison.

Damn economy is forcing kids to play with rubber bands. And they're enjoying it.

I addressed this in my post above yours, and I stand by it.

At least the stupid things I collected served some sort of purpose.

There are also these, which are more detailed: Amazon.com: TRANSFORMERS - Character Silly Bandz 20 Pack: Toys & Games: Reviews, Prices & more . I believe they're the more flat-sided ones that tend to return to original shape better.

Meanwhile, pull the broomsticks out, people. Kids dig the hell out of these right now. I'm sure it'll be a fairly short-lived fad, but whoever first marketed them is a frickin' genius.

And they are pretty cool. I've got a pair of Muppet ones: Dr. Honeydew and Beaker. :D

I do think I want to add that set that Amazon has to my small collection of non actual figure TF stuff.

I've seen these things at stores before but I had no idea they were a crazy seller for kids.

I wonder how long it will be before we see the "Kid has collection of 50,000 Googly Bands!" news story along with video of the kid holding some rare one that sells for $2000 since it was only available at a convention before anyone knew about these things...
