    Transformers: The Movie

Just saw this video for the first time that I believe....it has an intro similar to Star Wars rather than the usual opening credits. Thought it was kinda neat, but glad they didn't stick with this. Too much of a SW rip off. Anyone have anymore info on this? Are there any other scenes available that are different?

I believe it was the opening that was used in the European market, it was subsequently used on the Canadian version videotape release as far as I know.

It was also used on the Rhino video cassette release in North America. When the DVD came out, they used the proper U.S. opening.

I prefer to look at it as a homage :p  This is the version I saw when I was younger, so whenever I see the other opening it feels wrong :lol

The Rhino cassette had the narrator reading the scroll to you also.

that was how the film was released in the UK back in 86. To me that will always be the 'proper' version. Having seen the US opening in recent years I have to say it pales in comparison. Narration by Victor Caroli setting the scene for the movie beats crappy names of not particulary big 'celebrity' names any day of the week.

Who was the narrator anyhow? I always thought it was Flint Dille because the credits say he is "story consultant." Hey I was a dumb kid that didn't know any better. But no matter who it is, his name will always be Flint Dille to me....lol

Thats the intro for the VHS version, at least in the one i have, it has the text scroll intro you show. I love the narrator in the dub, puts heart in it. ^^
HEre: YouTube - transformers la pelicula parte 01 -the narration starts at 2:45. ;)

That doesn't have a scroll, that has the actor names being shown on screen. And the "narration" is a foreign language.

Yes! XD Out of some reason that version is edited or something. :p  But in the VHS it does have the scroll text and the narrator talking. ^^ I just paste this video because of the audio. ^^ And yes, it is in spanish. :p

George Lucas's inspiration for Star Wars was from the theater old serials like Flash Gordon. When you watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network, the intro is very similar to the those old shows.

I believe that foreign language is español. Una idioma muy extraño.

My point was that this wasn't the version with the scrolling text and "It is the year 2005" guy speaking over the text like we were discussing before that video was posted. I had originally thought he was posting the video of that. Which, if I had read his description better in his post, I would've understood better, so my bad.

Uh, this opening is the only opening I have ever known the movie to have in the last 25 years... :sly2:

I have something I got a while ago that is a collector's item now, the Japanese Laserdisc (what the hell is a "laserdisc", ha ha) of Transformers the Movie. Too bad I don't have a laserdisc player to watch it.

Anyway, I can't recall if it had a different opening, but I don't think so? It must've been dubbed, then opening credits for voice talent would be...?

Kind of neat to own it. Anyone else recall the Japanese release's opening was like? I'm just scratching my head now.

I can see your son asking you "Daddy, what's a Laser Disc? Is that what they used when you were a kid?" lol.
