They posted on facebook that they will be attending dairycon and its a first for them. Given that its the same weekend of Botcon, is this a form of boycotting Botcon that they are just not straight out saying? And would other stores follow?

Or maybe its because Wisconsin is closer to Minnesota than Texas.

    Just sayin'.

I can't really speculate on political motives with in the fandom, but from a logistical point of view, there is a whole lot of expense to get from Minnesota to Texas with a rig filled with toys that you can't sell compared to taking a van to a con in Wisconsin where you CAN sell at.

So, speaking strictly with logistics of the current circumstances, Dairycon is the clear winner.

Also, should change the name of the thread to "TFSource to Attend Dairycon 2012".

I understand; its just that given that both events are on the same weekend, them saying its their first time going there and with the whole thing of not being able to sell 3Rd party stuff, its just very coincedental..

Pretty sad when the two largest specialty online stores that sell Transformers are not attending the official convention.

Per the Botcon twitter feed, Pete mentions that TFSource will be at Botcon. I wonder since they can't bring any 3rd party stuff to Botcon that stuff is headed to Dairycon.

@Grandall50 @jasonthex Yes. Tf Source will be there. In fact, all of the regular big time Dealers will be there. Angry Giant. Tempting Toys.

Hmm, that is quite a logistical challenge to do TWO conventions in one weekend. I wonder if they're going to split the company two ways or bring in some outside help? Of course, it's possible an Untruth was spoken on the Botcon Twitter Feed, which wouldn't exactly be a first either....

It's quite possible that the decision to not come to BotCon was made quite recent and FunPub/Pete didn't know at that time.

They probably are just splitting between the two conventions - Botcon gets their "official" stock, while Dairycon gets all the third party items they are blocked from bringing to Botcon.

Splitting between two shows is a logistical nightmare for even some of the biggest stores and IIRC Curt runs a fairly small opperation. I'd say we won't really know unless TFSource announces that they are out for Botcon or until Botcon's dealer room opens and they are either set up....or not...

In all honesty both shows are fairly small so I just don't see it as economically viable to split and travel to both shows and with so much of their business model based on 3rd party, the expenses involved in traveling to Dallas and setting up there just might not be worth it.

Booking a vendor the size of TFSource is quite the coup for Dairycon. Well done guys! :thumb

Botcon tweeted to me (grandall50) that they will be at Botcon. TFSource confirmed to me that they will be at both cons.
