hey all just something thats been bugin me why were the tf's sizes SO different in bw/tf animated etc compared to g1 when they were HUGE?? this was evident in the episode of beast wars were megs entered the ark
They're just smaller guys overall - more energy efficient 'n' such, like Hondas or something. On average animals are usually smaller than vehicles too.
Other than Megatron calling the G1 'bots in the Ark "archaic energon-guzzlers", I don't think there's any official historical reason, though the G1 comics brought out Micromasters as smaller, more efficient TFs, so it's easy to assume that's one of the technologies that combined to become Maximals and/or Predacons.
If I remember correctly there was something like the Great Formatting/Upgrade something like that, that happened after Pax Cybertronia was established in order to have more energon efficient transformers, hence why old G1 characters like Grimlock and Ravage changed forms completely.
Better question- Are the Predacons with vehicle modes in BWII the size of animals, or are the maximals the size of vehicles? I guess they're all small like the BW Preds and Maximals, but it's odd thinking of Thrust and Dirge transforming into Cow-sized jets. I guess it's like Transmetal vehicle modes.
Ok hold on a second. I really couldn't understand you. Did you just say that Beast Wars was a continuation to the G1 comic ONLY? But if that is what you were saying, then I must disagree. The majority of the references in BW had more to do with the cartoon. But even they were vague at best. BW was a continuation of G1 in general and not exclusively the comics.
I remember that stuff too. I wasn't sure if that was anything official, or just widely-accepted fanfic historical filler. I seem to remember most of the BW 2nd/Neo guys were portrayed (in the anime at least) as being a similar size to the average G1 Cybertronian, or at least some screen shots showed of Cybertrons together with the animal they scanned their form from, and dwarfing them. ... don't take my word for it though. I never kept up with the Japanese BW.
