At long last, I was able to make one.
Its 1/4 scale, that's approximately the size of the matrix in your hand- if you're Optimus Prime.
Very strong material. You can actually stab it in your chest and kill yourself- unless, again, you're Optimus Prime:D

    Tech Specs:
    -modeled in Rhino/Solidworks
-bronze infused stainless steel 3d print
-13cm length (approx 1/4 size of original)
    -single piece construction
    -60grams (2oz), i think

New pics! I hope they ARE better than the first ones. :D

took two random parts and made a base. maybe i'll make one. deliberately.

sturdy to carry wherever I go

    shining the light through

    what I've made so far.:D

"aw c'mon! you know i will never replace you with that, that spiky thing! i won't even dream of sitting on that..."

It's beautiful! And I like your write up. Honest, detailed and overall amusing. An excellent read.

How much will it cost to fabricate a copy anyway?

That's beautiful! I have a few questions for you:
What kind of machine did you use to fabricate this in bronze infused stainless steel?
Did you have to assemble anything, or is it all one piece?
Once again, that is incredible! You did a great job with that!

Niiiiice. My fellow engineer and I at work have been wanting to make someting out of sintered stainless for awhile now, but every time an application comes up, we can't justify it to the boss.
How long that'd take you to model up? I work in the same programs....mostly RHINO though.

And the reason it's that size is most likely the cost. 3D printing isn't cheap, and metal printing isn't any cheaper. to build a full size prop would be....man...alot of money. I can't even think about that right now.

    Randy!

I second this. My guess for the cost of the material to make this would be AT LEAST $100.

    Awesome!

I sure wouldn't mind having a replica Matrix, no matter what size/scale it is.

Wow, very awesome Matrix! Hah, in that last picture of Optimus holding the Matrix, it looks like he will fall over before he finishes saying "light our darkest hour"!

It's a bit smaller than I expected, but still good!
