I take it for what its worth, it would be nice if all transformers series would have some continuity but its wishful thinking.

The tie in is cringe worthy. So is swipe's attitude.

why does this series decide to do character development then reverse it for the sake of an episode? :banghead:

I watched the first four episodes today, I'm not really impressed by this season at all, even with Blurr joining up. I'm not even sure if myself as a child would've liked this show. Sideswipe is annoying, Fixit's speech problem has lost all charm, and the humans have lost their point as well.

I'm surprised that no one brought up how Ragebyte sounds close to Shockwave. Did they only give him that voice because he's a scientist like Shockwave?

Anyways, let's move onto the review. I found it very nice and this time there were no inclusions of side stories. It was so nice to see an episode with a 100% main focus, something that was missing in the previous three episodes.

    Story
So I kind of find it funny how we get to see Sideswipe be the jealous one about a new recruit. Reminds me much of the "Buzz on Windblade" where Strongarm was jealous of Windblade's arrival. I felt the story of Sideswipe being jealous was reasonable but a tad overdone a few times. Sideswipe knows he's had his share of screw-ups, so seeing Blurr show up and the team being impressed with him gave good reason for him to fear he might be replaced. This is especially evident by showing how Bumblebee and the others have stated their annoyances with Sideswipe's incident. As for the Decepticon for the episode, interesting how his goal was to simply kill humans with a bomb. I think we've rarely seen a Decepticon on this show simply want to kill humans. Normally it's wanting to take over something or hunting for relics. Only downside I would say is that we still got no info on the Stunticons, we didn't get another glimpse at the Soundwave storyline, and for something called Combiner Force we have yet to see any combining aside from that small bit in the season premiere.

    Characters
Now while I felt Sideswipe's actions were understandable, I believed he overeacted quite a few episodes. He acted like spoiled child over the littlest of things. Constantly snapping at Blurr while making the dumbest decisions to make himself look good. I wish he was toned down a bit more instead of going like "Don't touch anything!" or "I got Ragebyte, how do you like me now Bee?" It was fine to make him jealous, but not to these levels. Honestly reminded me of Rescue Bots when Blades constantly pouted over the fact that Bumblebee had regained his voice. Then there's Blurr in the episode who I felt was handled just fine. He reminded me much of Smokescreen in Transformers Prime. As for the other characters, I was surprised when Bumblebee asked "Are all young bots bad at following orders?" Made him seem pretty old by asking that question. Then again, Optimus is considered an old man by this point so I guess it makes sense that Bumblebee would be seen the equivalent of someone in their forties or thirties having to work with young adults. The other characters didn't offer much except for Drift that seemed to constantly get beat up like he normally does in the episodes. I do like his "Not again!" line, almost as if he's acknowledging that he has become the show's punching bag.

    Special
The episode had pretty good fight scenes and that sweet music. I like how when Bumblebee kicked Ragebyte in the head it actually did a bit of slow-motion. I always love that effect. Another fight scene I felt was well done was Sideswipe's and Ragebyte's final battle. The way Sideswipe scaled and hoped around the bridge was amazing and showed how agile he can be. Reminds me of Prowl in Transformers Animated who was the most agile member on his team. Though that's more because he was a ninja, not sure what Sideswipe's excuse is since he doesn't strike me as a ninja. Perhaps it's because of his speed. The backgrounds were handled very well; not once did I ever feel the imagery I was seeing was dull and boring. I really want to see more of this in future episodes.

So with that said, I give Transformers: Combiner Force 9/10. It was close to a perfect score but my gripes with the story held me back from it. I look forward to seeing how Blurr will affect the team and the fact I realize I know need to buy his toy in order to complete my goal of buying the complete cast.

Have you ever been insecured? A person that has insecure feeling sometimes got sudden anxiety. Sure, SS suggested Blurr to join the team but don't you think it's just for politeness or sudden thought? Like when you invite someone to join your squad just for fun but then you realized that the guy actually accepted and he's actually fits to the squad more than you. It's suck to be replaced right?

Furthermore, denying a suggestion doesn't mean you can't have a second thought. Blurr might have thought he can join the team whenever he want. He might said he was happy with RB team but that can be changed.

Anyway, Blurr seems to be more mature than SS. Of course, he's even older than SS like million years. But somehow Sideswipe did to him like Blurr is younger than him.

Yes and Sideswipe usually seems more confident than that. Also if it wasn't a sinciear offer than Sideswipe wouldn't have encouraged Blurr for the entire episode. It would of just been a one off comment that you could easily tell wasn't a real offer. It doesn't seem likely he would just change his mind plus neither one of them mentions it was his idea. Sideswipe claims that it was Blurr who said it but it was Sideswipe who did and Blurr never mentions that, he just agrees as if Sideswipe never made the offer in the first place.

As to the last part I don't see where either one is more mature. They're both about the same. Also where do you get the idea that Blurr is older? Their ages have never been stated as far as I know. If you're going off some other fiction that supposedly suppose to be in continuity with this... Bumblebee keeps calling everyone a kid even though according to the Covenant of Primus he is actually the youngest Transformer. Strongarm may have been born from the well after Cybertron was restored but Sideswipe is confirmed to be older than Bee despite being portrayed as younger.

Just more reasons why the aligned continuity is full of crap. More like a bunch of different continuities with similar themes that never quite connect. Hasbro should of been more strict about following the continuity bible instead of allowing different creative teams to go off and do their own thing which is the reason we have all these problems.

Hasbro themselves seem to treat continuity as more of a suggestion than a rule which results in this weird crap.

Look, you see, THIS SS is not WFC SS. He had just born after the restoration of Cybertron. To make this clearer, these two SS shares nothing in common. Even the show itself describes him as a YOUNG punk. On the other hand, in RB, Blurr and Savage came to earth by an escape ship from cybertron which the event occurred during TFP, not after it. So basically, Blurr is just as old as the bots from WFC/FOC. And by the maturity, in the episode we can see that Blurr knows what to do and don't, except for him to assist SS when he made some shits :p  while SS being too confident outside while being anxiety inside, he tried his best-as-hotheaded to assure bee that he wont be replaced. Now you see the different?
