Not a lot to this one, and though it's episode 13 of the season, it's no kind of "mid-season finale."
When Fixit takes some particle samples from each of the Autobots to further his combination experiments, he fails to calibrate his particle extractor for Dinobot physiology. The end result is that Grimlock's particles become super-charged by the device, temporarily giving him super-speed. He can't control himself, so the Autobots have to leave him behind when they go to investigate the sudden appearance of dozens of Decepticon signals in the subway tunnels beneath the city. They discover that Simacore - who it turns out escaped his faulty stasis cell before the prisoners were all shipped off at the end of season 2 - has created a clone army of his Mini-Cons, all for the purpose of luring the Autobots in to take revenge.

Meanwhile, Russel tries to cheer up the depressed Grimlock by reading him some superhero comics, which leads Grimlock to look at his new speed as a superpower. After some very brief training, he decks himself out in a makeshift hero costume made out of junk from the scrapyard (a neon sign "G" on his chest, a cape, a mask painted directly onto his face, etc), and zooms off to help his team-mates. Of course, he still can't control himself so it doesn't go very well, and he becomes afraid to even move lest he cause more destruction. Simacore is seeking revenge on him personally, so is frustrated when Grimlock won't fight back - but when Grimlock realizes that he's got his very own "arch nemesis," just like a real superhero, he manages to focus his speed just long enough to take Simacore out with a simple finger-flick to the forehead. Everyone goes home, Grimlock's power will be gone soon, all smile and fade out.

I swear, RID's been doing really well with the structure and pacing of its arc and sub-plots so far this season, so to not get a proper "mid-season" culmination is frustrating; here's hoping the next two are a proper two-part Ultrabee-versus-Menasor mid-season event.

Yes, but they're lifeless robots without sparks who don't talk.

Purely so-so episode, one of the weaker ones of the season. Nonetheless it's nice how a lot of the filler episodes still mention the combining sub-plot.

What bugs me the most about this episode is the "Well gang, it looks I learned my lesson!" and the laughter while the camera pans away and fades to black. I thought we left that crap in the mid 2000's?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think Simacore escaped because Optimus was the one who forgot to take a headcount his memory has proven not to be the best on multiple incarnations.

I've seen it with my own eyes... my TV listings for CN have both The Golden Knight and The Fastest Bot airing Sat. August 12th, starting at 5:00am CST... about time.

So set those DVR's if you haven't already. 1 hour of RID. :D
