Disclaimer: Think of this list as a sort of casting list. If for instance if I wanted to recreate a scene in the series today these would be the figures I would use right now. Update: I'm changing things up a bit. From now on I will be adding names to the list as new characters appear on the show. I will also be removing names from the list as toys get released or showcased enough to give us a good feel for the toy. Feel free to contribute as we get to know the new characters on the show. LIST: Classics Onslaught as Breakdown (maybe removing the guns and looking for a head swap) HFTD leader Starscream as Skyquake TFTM Cliffjumper as Cliffjumper (I just like the alt mode better) TFA leader Bulkhead as Bulkhead TFA Rachet as Rachet Mindwipe & Skystalker as Soundwave CHUG Wheeljack as Wheeljack
TF Prime's style is so unique that having stand-ins seems pointless. some movie toys can pass for Classics. it works. but Prime toys are so glossy and uber lean, that not even TFA toys can pass for them. patience, grasshopper
I believe some clarification is in order. When I say stand-ins I mean that I find these figures to be able to fill another figure's gap. As of now there is a gap because I am watching the show and I have no toys. Even when they eventually come out they may sell out, be too expensive or have bad reviews that make me reconsider. It may even be a reason as subjective as deciding that I already have too many figures of a certain character or just not liking a particular character's design. Think of this list as a sort of casting list. If for instance if I wanted to recreate a scene in the series today these would be the figures I would use right now.
Since WfC and Prime are the same continuity, somehow, I'd figure that the Generations WfC Cliffjumper would make the most "cannon" stand in for the red and dead guy since it is technically the same character. In fact, I think my purchasing that very figure the day after the first episode of TF Prime killed him off might have had something to do with each other...
I'm trying to make this thread more dynamic so I've added some rules and removed the figures we saw on recent conventions. Feel free to contribute as we get to know the new characters on the show.
That was my choice too. But I took her off the list since we have already seen plenty of coverage of the new toy and it is almost here. I currently use one of those when I display.
Maybe instead of just stand in figures it might be interesting to look at figures that would expand the cast beyond what the cartoon has had so far. I'm thinking something like the Reveal the Shield Lugnut would fit into the style of the Prime toys fairly well.
