ok, since we now know the new series comes out in the Fall, my guess is the reveal would be either at Toyfair for announcements and no pictures of the concept while the prototypes would be at Botcon.

I figure the line up would be of course the Big Gun Characters of the Autobots Optimus, Ratchet (confirmed to be Jeffery Combs), Bumblebee, Prowl, maybe the Dinobots, Jetfire, maybe some twins (I hope Sideswipe and Sunstreaker) while the Decepticons would be Megatron, Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Shockwave, Soundwave, Ravage, etc.)

For gimmicks I hope just transformation and articulation

    Thoughts?

I agree with you about the gimmicks. I'd be happier if they left them out so that we get better articulation.

Personally, I'm not expecting there to be any line-wide gimmicks. Hasbro has seen that for a line to be successful, that all the toys don't need to have the same gimmick forced into them.

As for characters, it's hard to say, but there are a few must-haves, imo:

    Autobots:
    -Optimus Prime
    -Ratchet
    -Bumblebee
    -Grimlock

    Decepticons:
    -Megatron
    -Starscream
    -Skywarp
    -Soundwave

With the minicons/targetmasters making a come-back with the PCC's, it wouldn't surprise me if the new show's line had something similar. I think we'll get some small announcement from Toy Fair, but I wouldn't expect all that much. Then the big reveal to happen during Botcon.

The Takara designers, when asked how they made Classics and Universe 2.0 look so good by Hasbro, apparently replied that it was because there were no gimmicks to force into the toy design process. The movie figures are the biggest gimmicks we've gotten since then, are they not? And all they are is the Automoroph and Mechalive features which aren't all that obtrusive. Animated was all about the transformations without any other features. We have seen that the War for Cybertron toys aren't gimicked up, too. Perhaps Hasbro has seen the light and realised that having two toys in one (robot character and vehicle) is a selling point and gimmick enough for people.

I think, if you're doing what will essentially amount to an All-Star lineup of Transformers, you're going to grab the most popular characters from all the series, including the movies and Animated.

    For the Autobots, that means:
    Optimus Prime
    Bumblebee
    Ultra Magnus
    Ironhide
    Ratchet
    Jazz
    Prowl
    Wheeljack
    Hound
    Grimlock/The Dinobots

    For the Decepticons:
    Megatron
    Starscream
    Shockwave
Soundwave (plus Ravage, Laserbeak and Frenzy/Rumble)
    Devastator/The Constructicons
    Thundercracker
    Skywarp
    Blackout
    Lockdown
    Lugnut

That sounds like a pretty good lineup to me.

I also hope to see the Insecticons and maybe Bludgeon appear (Bludgeon hasnt appeared in any animated feature, except the online webisodes)

Your right, I doubt we'll see the entire line this month (I wish otherwise, but oh well). At least we'll see Seaspray (who looks awsome) and the PCC subline. The new series will probably be shown at Botcon (though there isn't much time between Botcon and Fall Premiere, unless they show the first wave of Deluxes though Leaders of characters who appear in the first few episodes, while waves 2 or 3 would be spotlighted at Botcon)

I'm hoping this is the line that focuses on the 13 (it's called Prime, after all).

that's right, Hasbro did say they might explore that at some point in the franchise.

I wonder what the animation style will be (like Animated, or similar to G1. Hopefully get the studiot that did "Call of The Primitives" to animate)

I'm curious more about the art style than anything else.

I'd imagine we'll find out at Botcon. IIRC, this is about the same time delay as finding out about Animated to its first unveiling at Botcon 2007.

The pics of Prime with that futuristic alt mode in the rumors forum has nothing to do with the new cartoon series then?
