I got my first Prime RID figure, Soundwave. First off, I love the figure itself and it has many strong points that I think most people agree on. The problem is that it really is too small for my collection. To me Soundwave looks like an oversized scout/basic from the AEC era. If the whole line is going to be this size then there is a massive disconnect between my collection up to this point and what comes ahead. Over the years I have been assembling a perfect line up of toys from various lines that best represent each character. Now with this shift all that history is wiped out.

Is Soundwave just unusually small or is the whole line like this? Dose anyone see this as reducing their interest in official toys or have you just got used to it?

PRID itself if smaller than Generations.

It doesn't affect me much since smaller figures could be used for pen and paper vehicles if they are closer to scale.

Yeah, pretty much every toy is smaller, Voyagers, Deluxes, everything. Even the Legends/Legion figs started getting a *little* smaller in DOTM. Just a result of pricing going up, I suppose.

I didn't buy much DOTM. Is Soundwave smaller than usual? I just saw a pic by TJ Duckett showing Ratchet is similar to generations because he is bulkier. Is Soundwave just skinny because his scale is a bit smaller?

Soundwave is skinny because that's accurate to his show model.

What the hell is an arinid???

Soundwave scales pretty well with the voyager Megatron and the rest of the PRiD figures.

I wouldn't be so harsh on the OP. People who skipped DOTM altogether aren't used to the shrinkage, so the surprise is understandable.

He's small compared to figures like Drift, but otherwise is on par with most CHUG cars.

Oh come now, we've all been in cold water at one point in our lives. I'm sure those of us who are male have had to deal with shrinkage at one point or another.

The downsize did not start with DOTM. It started with Generations/RTS. Go look at Tracks, Wheeljack, Thunderwing or laser Optimus Prime. Not every figure was downsized, but some were.

    The downsizing isn't exactly new.
