Note; all price is in Australian dollars.

The last movie deluxe Transformer I bought at retail was Jazz, until 2 days ago when I bought Bonecrusher at a TRU. The price was $30.99. I noticed some SWTFs were sold for the same price. I picked up Darth Maul.

The priceline I was used to was $24 ~ 27 for a deluxe and $34.99 for a SWTF. So I thought it odd when I took them to the cashier, but TRU still has G1 coloured Jazz for $49.99, so they are obviously, shall I say, confused.

Then yesterday I went to Target and realized they too are pricing SWTF and movie deluxe same ($30.99). I didn't see if the price for leftover Classics was still around $26.

I know movie TFs are selling well, and with $7+ or so extra SWTFs won't sell, but this price hike is annoying. Hope they'll sell new SWTFs with that price at least.
(On the brighter note, DS/Vader is much cheaper than I expected, though I've got one already so it doesn't matter :D )

edit; I am on the edge of Sydney metropolitan area, not sure if the prices are the same in other areas of Australia.

I thought the price hikes were due to 3rd party testing for lead in toys?

In fact, I doubt if any of my neighbourhood people are paying that much. I saw 4 G1 recolour Jazz and 1 Dreadwing beside the Bonecrusher I bought. That's the all deluxes they had.

Thanks for the tip (I hardly go to Big W). I hope my local one's well stocked. $31 for a deluxe is ridiculous. I can almost miss our previous ridiculous pricetag :mad

This shouldn't affect Hasbro, as their safety standards have already been quite high. They've only had 14 recalls in the last 19 years, and none for lead paint.

Yeah, because understanding exchange rates requires a great deal of in depth Transformers knowledge. That and I was having a laugh... but still, carry on soldier.

What is the exchange rate anyway? I understand the Euro but that isn't what they use in Aussie-land is it. I wonder if their 5 spot has a picture of Russel Crow on it...HAAA! Anyway somebody school me on this please/thanks.

For one Australian Dollar you will get 0.914 US Dollars. This means that for one US Dollar you get 1.09 Australian dollars.

What this means is I can buy stuff off BBTS, and even after shipping and their scalper style markups still be spending less overall than I would here.

    Example:
Case assortment of 8 movies figures, and MP Starscream (anime) + shipping is $250USD, which is 273.50 Australian Dollars. Those figures bought domestically would cost $380 (8 x $30 + $140) = saving of over $100 for the win.

As a matter of fact, it does, it was posted at this same site that toy prices, including Hasbro's would rise due to the "lead paint effect". It's simple inflation.
