Disappointing for sure, but I stopped expecting anything from movie-based video games.

We didn't get to play, but from what we saw at Toyfair the game looked frikkin awesome.

I'm commenting from more of a TF fan than a gamer angle. But, its got next-gen graphics, GTA style play, and transforming abilities. What else can you ask for IMO.

It's a video game tie-in to a movie. You don't go into these things expecting greatness.

Indeed. How can you go wrong with that combination? Hopefully Activision won't have to tell us.

Personally, I value your opinion far more than most videogame journalists. I seem to seldom agree with them anymore. They generally appear to be more negative than anything anymore.

I am a huge fan of video games. I have always played them and I work in the industry. Personally, I think the whole industry is in a terrible slump despite all the new next gen stuff popping up. But some of the worst parts of the industry are the journalists, IMO. I am sure there are good ones, but you have to weed them out from a crowd of company/brand loyalists. They would have such a bias towards a game based on a movie based on a toy that they probably wrote there "underwhelming" feedback statements before even watching it. I guess I am just saying that it would be wise to reserve judgement until you play the game for yourself.

Some key points to note in this game preview:

Conclusion: they previewed an unfinished project, and they didn't get any hands-on play experience.

It's an early preview, nothing more. I'll judge for myself when full reviews start showing up, and I have an opportunity to play the game myself.

Hmmm, well I have seen it time and time again, movie based games just arent that good, but it sparks my curiosity because of the in game screen shot we got.....It looked pretty convincing.

heck, TF Tatakai was a crappy game but you could get to play as G1 characters (even as non-entities like Grotusque or Trypticon's little helper). I'll probably enjoy this game more then the movie...

I'll probably get it anyway, even though I suck at these types of video games. Hell I can't even beat level 1 of the Armada game...though cross me with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat....;)

They so need to make a TF fighting game haha.

It's a sandbox game, they all have bland enviroments causer you make the world so massive. why do people think Superman and Crackdown were set on islands.
