Bear with me, I was keeping track while wearing tinted glasses in the dark so my notes are a bit messy and out of order, lol.

    (They were RealD, btw. Haha.)

Just for the record, most of these are entries are listed only roughly in their order of appearance as I jotted them down in the same order I saw them. Probably a few mix-ups here and there 'cause it was dark, I was high, and this list was compiled from my notes from several separate viewings.

Personally, I think there's some pretty cool and appropriate choices there.

Wheelie watching "Star Trek" and Sam mentioning the Starship Enterprise and Bumblebee sampling Spock's goodbye to Kirk from ST2:TWoK were nice little warm-ups for Spocktimus Prime eventually quoting himself.

Dylan Gould "wants another 40 years" so his penthouse is stocked with fresh fruit, mineral water, and soy milk. Plus, the Voss water he serves at his mansion AND his penthouse comes in bottles shaped like PILLARS! Ha.

Mearing debriefs Optimus and (unwittingly) reveals the location of Sentinel Prime with files from a Hermes brand handbag (well, actually a Kelly, but w/e). Hermes was the messenger of the gods. Sentinel wanted to BE a god again. Just sayin'.

Seeing/hearing "Twitter tweeter" and Twizzlers back-to-back is cinematic poetry, after a fashion. Certainly alliterative, at least, just like Bruce Brazos' line a bit later about the bamboo, bistro, and balustrades. Cute.

Furthermore, considering the subtle dirty joke about the "gorgeous box" in Carly's first scene, it's possibly more than just a "Red Floor" joke when she shows up with *ahem* CHERRY Twizzlers. She even smiles and mouths one semi-phallically, for that matter. You GO, girl.

Laserbeak-in-disguise as a photocopier playing the "robots in disguise" part of the cartoon theme song? BRILLIANT.

One of the guys in a rag-tag group of decommissioned NEST and military soldiers wearing a Motley Crue band shirt? LOL, i c wut u dd thurr.

And one of my favorites, Dry: A Memoir, a book about living with alcoholism, visible in Simmons' mansion. That and his "do not tempt my addictions" line (followed by his futile self-help dialogue) show an interesting bit of depth to his character. Nice touch to see him succumb to his alien-space-robot addiction and then pour himself a glass of cosmonaut vodka shortly thereafter, lol. Na sdorovye!

[EDIT: See correction regarding Dry: A Memoir in following post.]

    >_>

    <_<

    Or maybe that's just me.

    *sips cocktail quietly*

    Whoopsie! My bad.

Upon closer scrutiny, Dry: A Memoir is actually seen in CARLY'S apartment while Sam's watching Simmons' meltdown on O'Reilly. Not in Simmons' mansion AT ALL.

    Two things follow from this.

ONE. That book is a relic of the apartment having originally been set-designed as MIKAELA'S apartment, and is an allusion to her car-thieving father's vices with which she is forced to cope. Good to see she's been studying at home at least, lol.

TWO. Simmons' line about tempting addictions STILL has a double meaning anyway. The longing in his face when he repeats, "Oh, Apollo..." after Sam teases him over the phone alludes to the scene I'M SURE EVERYONE REMEMBERS READING IN THE PAPERBACK NOVELIZATION OF TF:RotF, where Simmons takes a moment to indulge his childhood fantasy of crawling out of the Apollo's re-entry module after Jetfire knocks the original down in the museum. You know, as well as the double meaning of referring to his Alien-addiction, which up till now had always been separate interests.

Poor guy never stood a chance!

    Just sayin'.

    Further notes regarding specific entries...

The Edie Sedgwick poster is only seen for a second when Sam buzzes up 'Bee, Simmons, and Dutch. It's especially cool 'cause the band takes its name from the "factory girl" of Andy Warhol, the man who inspired the name of The Dandy Warhols, another band poster adorning her wall. It's also a European tour poster for their "Live in Washington D.C." release, so it's EXTRA-logical for Carly to be into them since she'd probably like their name and would have probably been commuting back and forth between Europe and D.C. for her previous job anyway. But like I said, you only see the poster in the movie for a second and I could only barely read any of it even freeze-framed, but once I started image-searching "Sedgwick" it was only a matter of time. It led me on a merry chase, however!

Here's the poster to look for in the shot:

    http://www.alecbourgeois.net/images/portfolio/posters/edie-poster-big. jpg

And I LOVE Subway sandwiches, so I was THRILLED to finally remember to post about the barely-there glimpses of their signage.

Also, that Garvey's delivery truck was driving me CRAZY since this was in theaters, I just could NOT figure out what it said. DVDs, w00t.

Never heard of Ruskova or Hine till this movie, but if you look QUICK! they're totally there. Mmm, booze.

Couldn't figure out wtf the lamp/sign thing by Carly's Ramones banner said for the LONGEST time, but then I realized it was a promo item for a Super Bee muscle car! Makes sense.

Also, the place Simmons, Dutch, and Mearing are overseeing the Chicago battle from had a United Launch Alliance sign on the wall, so I googled 'em and found out they have several bases. But we never see them go anywhere after Sam leaves immediately following the shuttle launch, so Simmons, Dutch, and Mearing must all be at the ULA's Cape Canaveral Air Force Base Station. Makes sense since they've got the joysticks for the aerial drones RIGHT THERE, right?

Likewise, I just happened to catch the tags of the helicopter over the Autobot motorcade to the launchpad and learned that it was one of NASA's own helicopters which Bay must've talked them into throwing in, just for the hell of it.

    Neat.

I could go on, but suffice it to say that documenting (and verifying through research) all these name-droppings has been SURPRISINGLY interesting and life-enriching, lol.

    :)

Just for the hell of it...

LIST OF DRINKS IN TRANFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON

    ALCOHOL:

Stella Artois beer -- delivery truck outside Carly's place
    Ruskova Vodka -- Russian bar
St. Germain Liqueur -- Russian bar/tilting office building
Hine Cognac -- tilting office building
Bushmills Whiskey -- Russian bar/Dylan's penthouse/tilting office building
Patron Silver Tequila -- Tilting office building
    Bud Light -- Sam's parents' R.V.
Budweiser -- sign in background when Sam spots the UAV

    EVERYTHING ELSE:

Pepto Bismol -- Sam's job hunt
    Shuhua Milk -- elevator
VOSS water -- Dylan's mansion and Republican office building
Pepsi -- broken neon sign in city background
    Coffeemate -- tilting office building
West Soy milk -- Dylan's penthouse fridge
Perrier mineral water -- Dylan's penthouse fridge
Arrowhead Water -- water cooler in tilting office

    A fairly well-rounded selection, lol.

I only just today finally noticed that there's a bottle of Patron Silver tequila in the tilting office building. In my defense, however, it was the Silver so the liquor was clear, in a clear bottle, and only had a light, frosted-glass logo on it...which was partially hidden behind the taller glasses in front (and behind) it. They didn't exactly make it easy to spot!

Just wanted to mention it here to make sure Patron knows they got their money's worth, lol.

And, hell, I'd never even HEARD of Hine Cognac before, so I'm gonna make a point of tracking some down JUST because it was in the movie! Gotta make sure I FULLY understand that scene, right?

    ;)

While I'm on the subject, there's another distinctly-shaped bottle in that tilting office building shot of the liquor falling, but the label on the neck is torn so I can't identify it. Anyone? Same goes for the bottle of red wine on Dylan's table while he's drinking at dinner with Carly. Anyone recognize the label?

Just can't figure those two out.

    :-\

Oh, and to anyone who's bothered about booze in TF movie, they also have THIS book prominently displayed:

Dry: A Memoir by Augusten Burroughs -- Carly's apt.

    :p

    ..For one...

They were Lincoln Continentals. The Town Car was just a trim package at this time, not a standalone model. The Town Car's are once again a trim level for the Lincoln MKT livery models.

    Thanks!

I'm not much of "car guy" so I'm kinda out of my depth with details like that and any help along those lines is much appreciated.

You may also notice most of the alt. modes and stuff like that are missing from the list. That's partly because their makes and models are already easily found without my list, as well as partly because their logos and stuff generally aren't really in-your-face within the film itself, and LARGELY because most car stuff just goes RIGHT over my head anyway, lol.

But, again, thanks...sounds like you know what you're talking about there so I take a leap o' faith and go ahead and edit that into the OP.

Forgot to mention the backstory of one of the stranger selections on the list!

I couldn't figure out what Ron Witwicky's t-shirt said under his ADIDAS jumpsuit for the longest time (almost FIVE MONTHS, in fact!), but after the DVD came out and I could finally freeze-frame a bit here and there, I noticed that its text was slightly more exposed in one or two shots and the extra couple letters were all I needed. A few quick google searches was all it took to figure out the rest.

Sam's dad's shirt says DON'T TAILGATE OR WE'LL FLUSH, lol.

I was however a bit unprepared for the rest of what I discovered about it!

You can order your own here:

Don't Tailgate or We'll Flush Ash Grey T-Shirt > Don't Tailgate or We'll Flush RV > Jolene's Trailer Park Tshirt Shirt Couture Gift

And read about its creator here:

Jason Saffer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    ^ Kinda interesting, lol.

Guess Ron's into drag queens...no wonder he's so accepting of "transformers," right?

    :D

But, seriously...Ron & Judy buy their "love bus" and he winds up clothed in a fairly obscure bit of "trailer park culture" regalia.

If that's not some truly inspired and near genius-level wardrobe work than NOTHING is, lol.

Pretty surprising and interesting how subtle and poignant they can be with their handling of the finer details in these movies sometimes.

So, hey...I noticed something kinda interesting about one of these entries recently and wondered if anyone here might have some insight about what's going on:

I'd never heard of that company until I noticed its name on the side of the parking garage Sam fights Starscream near at the end of the third film.

But re-watching the Shanghai battle from the second film, I couldn't HELP but notice that the same company appears THERE, too!

    Meters/bonwe Group
    Highway Sign @1:11

    optimus vs dimolisher - YouTube

It's the sign seen behind Demolishor as he falls off the overpass and into the nearby industrial site where he crashes to a stop.

Here's pretty much everything wikipedia has about the company:

Anyway, as illustrated elsewhere in this thread, there was CLEARLY a lot of thought put into certain product placements, and I'm just curious if anyone knows any kind of specific connection the company might have to this franchise or the production's parent companies or whatever.

It IS in two of the films, after all!

Being a clothing manufacturer, perhaps they produce TF wardrobe merchandise or something like that?

    Michael Bay's a stockholder?

Haha, I don't know. Just curious if anyone might know anything about it, that's all.

Could be purely coincidental, sure, but a LOT of this stuff is pretty interesting when you give it a closer look, so I thought I'd better check.

    :)

    Haha, "gonna be"...???

    o_O

Thanks! That's nice to hear. I pretty much started the list on a whim while I was sitting there taking notes in the dark anyway while the movie was in theaters. It's pretty hard to not make a complete mess on a sheet of scratch paper while wearing tinted lenses in the dark, so in between notes on discussion points I just started listing the major product placements and stuff like that so I could have easy reference points for where the other things happened in the movie.

But then I started compiling the notes from a few separate screenings and realized just how many product placement entries I already had so I just decided to go full-on with it at future screenings. Once you've got a handle on the rest of the movie it's pretty easy to just look past what's going on in any given scene and start focusing on background elements and little details like that.

And then I started looking up certain entries and slogans and stuff to see what they were all about and to double-check the sources and began to discover how interestingly appropriate and involved some of them were and thought to myself, "WTF, this is awesome! The people have to know!"

And the rest is history, lol.

Most of these are just in the movie and not deliberate product placement.

Also we can shorten all the General Motors car lists to just "GM Cars" if you would like.
