Bumblebee remembers MacCadam's, his favorite hangout on Cybertron.
I’ll start off by saying that this episode was probably my favourite episode of the series so far. We got to see a lot of our favourite characters just hanging out and it was just an amazing episode.
We start off with two ships in a spaceship battle. Bumblebee and Windblade and being pursued by Slipstream and she seems to be getting the upper hand on them. Bumblebee then grabs the cannon he found a couple episodes ago and decides to take the ship out himself. He transforms and boosts off the ship, landing on Slipstream’s ship. He fires on the ship and takes it out, sending it hurling back to Earth. He then returns to Windblade’s ship and she congratulates him on being wreckless, but accomplishing the mission.
Bumblebee mentions Maccadam's. Windblade states that they have to land immediately. They land in a cave that looks him and they head to the patch for more answers. Windblade realizes that he remembered it without the Cortical Psychic Patch, indicating that his memories are returning. They head into the first memory.
Bumblebee and Windblade are on pre-war Cybertron and enter the bar. As soon as they enter, Ratchet is leaving. Bumblebee attempts to introduce Ratchet to Windblade, however Ratchet states that he can’t stay due to a medical emergency. The pair look around and see that Bumblebee’s cube match from the other episode is playing on the screen.
I’ll take a moment before continuing to state who we see, because we do see a lot of characters. When we enter the bar, you can see interacting:
Grimlock and Generics
Acid Storm and Nova Storm
Shockwave and Wheeljack with a Shockwave Mini-Drone
Optimus Prime and Megatron
Hot Rod and Shadowstriker
As they enter, Windblade comments on the place being amazing. Bumblebee and Windblade also discuss the rumor about Maccadam being a member of one of the original Thirteen Primes.
Grimlock calls the pair over and is telling the generics a story about how he was lost deep in the Acid Wastes, with no Energon to spare, and he was covered in Energy Leeches. He asks Bumblebee to confirm his story and Bumblebee states that it matches up with what Grimlock originally told him. Bumblebee introduced him to Windblade and he waves.
Soundwave plugs a cord into a speaker and begins to dance along with two Seekers. The trio do a dance routine and look like they are generally having fun.
At a table, Optimus Prime and Megatron are deep in a conversation about Mehatron’s upcoming rally. Optimus offers to write his speech for him before Bumblebee and Windblade interrupt them. Bumblebee tries to introduce Windblade but Megatron ignores them, and replies to Optimus questioning if a public rally is really the best way to address the citizens.
The pair walk past Wheeljack and Shockwave who are playing with one of Shockwave’s tiny drones. Wheeljack puts it down and it begins to dance. They both chuckle at it.
Bumblebee and Windblade head to the bar, before hearing a Hot Rod and Shadowstriker argue behind them. The pai approach them and we learn that Hot Rod wanted Iacon to win and Shadowstriker calls Iacon City "a bunch of cheating scruds." The arguing pair turn to see Bumblebee and Windblade and Hot Rod comments about seeing Bumblebee at the game and also asks about his friend. Bumblebee introduces Windblade. Shadowstriker opts to continue the argument declaring that Polyhex should have won. Hot Rod asks if she has brain rust. She states that she’ll flatten him like Polyhex flattened Kaon in the semi-finals. Hot Rod antagonizes her by stating to bring it on.
Bumblebee and Windblade turn away and she worries about trouble. Bumblebee comforts her by saying that Maccadam has a strict no fighting rule. Maccadam appears and hands them drinks. He calls her a Cityspeaker. She asks how he knows this. Bumblebee cuts in stating that he knows all. Maccadam tells them that they are hiding in the Bumblebee Cave. They question what he means by that and he replies that it hasn’t happened yet. The memory ends.
Windblade and Bumblebee discuss what he meant by that in present day before heading into the next memory.
This memory is during the war, generic Autobots and Decepticons are arguing with each other. Bumblebee and Deadlock enter and approach the bar where Chromia and Windblade are. Chromia tried to reason with Windblade and tries to persuade her to return to Caminus with her, since it’s her home. Windblade replies by stating that Cybertron is her home too and she isn’t going to abandon it. Bumblebee approaches her and asks her for help. Windblade replies by asking if both of them need her help, since Deadlock is a Decepticon. Bumblebee asks for Optimus Prime’s location. Megatron barrages in and exclaims Deadlock’s name. Megatron states that Deadlock is mistaken for trying to leave the Decepticons, and he must pay for his mistake, he then points his fusion canon at Deadlock. Everyone draws their weapons. Maccadam appears out of nowhere yelling to everyone to stop. He grows to an enormous size and intimidates everyone. Megatron backs off staying that Deadlock can’t stay here forever, and Maccadam offers that he can stay as long as he likes. Bumblebee states what Maccadam did was amazing. Maccadam returns the favour by telling him about what Bumblebee did in the present day to Slipstream’s ship. Bumblebee is confused as to what Maccadam is refering to and suggests that he should lay off the Energon. Maccadam laughs. The memory ends.
Bumblebee exclaims that Maccadam somehow knew what happened in present day from the past. Windblade asks why he would tell them those things. Bumblebee suggests he was trying to help them.
Final memory, Bumblebee and Windblade are in a post-war Cybertron (or at least, very late into the war), they enter the bar and discuss how the war closed the place down. Maccadam appears and offers them Energon. Maccadam tells Bumblebee that he knows that he’s about to leave on the Ark in search of the AllSpark. Maccadam says he will stay behind and keep a lens on things around there. Windblade states that Maccadam understands why she’s staying behind. She says she can’t leave because Cybertron needs her help. Bumblebee seems saddened and Maccadam assures him that time and space won’t end their friendship and they will see each other again because he knows it. Bumblebee and Windblade grab their drinks and cheers to friendship. Maccadam then states that there is one more thing they should know and it is that they need to find the King of the Dinosaurs. Windblade laughs and asks where Maccadam comes up with this stuff. Grimlock calls Bumblebee and Windblade and orders them to report to HQ. The memory ends.
Back in present day, Bumblebee states that they now know exactly what to do. They have to find the King of the Dinosaurs. Only problem is that they now have to find out what dinosaurs are.
Chromia, Ratchet, Deadlock, Hot Rod, Wheeljack, Shadow Striker, and asst. generics. Plus some big names.
Quite the place
Most of them appeared in the pre-war memory. Except for Deadlock and Chromia, who appear in the war memory. I’m kind of sad we didn’t see Prowl, since he’s slated to appear, this would have been a perfect episode to introduce him in.
I also forgot to mention in my post that the bot from the intro, who everyone thought was Rung, is actually Maccadam.
Does he appear to be an industrial guy?
Because there is a very distinct lack of industrial guys right now
Oh Maccadam is an interesting bot alright. He is a hard worker at doing what he loves, serving drinks to Cybertronians. They allude to him being one of the original Thirteen Primes, which is a nice reference.
Can't wait to see it.
Also, is Deadlock exactly who I expect?
Hate how they keep doing that in the present with threading the seekers like they keep failling at least they don't give up. Some time the weaker ones will win eventually.
If you're like me and think that he's a future Drift then... possibly...?
So Maccadam is essentially Alchemist Prime?
Not sure how I feel about Ratchet's voice.
That was a great episode! I hope we see more glimpses of Maccadam in the future. Honestly though, I kind of hope they keep him mysterious and don't explain everything about him.
My first reaction was he looks like Rung and Alchemist Prime. Once I heard he was actually appearing I imagined the pictures of him from fun pub and such where he’s got a mustache. Glad they didn’t do that.
Deadlock is straight up G1 drift in purple and dark greys and black. I was happy to see that.
Wait, wait, hold on! What you mean Alchemist Prime? I dont know that. Can someone teach me more? Please!
I LOVED THIS EPISODE!
Lenses - Transformers Wiki
Huh, this EP did teach me something obvious, like maccadams name. I've always thought it was pronounced mack-ah-damn
He's VECTOR PRIME!
EP.10 notes and stuffs:
-Dancing Soundwave and his boy band
-Mad scientist duo
-Chromia insists Windblade going back to Caminus. (IDW)
-Optimus and Meg during pre-war, discussing their public speech.
-Mexican standoff cliche
-Seeing degradation of Cybertron progressively
-Deadlock tries to redeem himself (IDW)
It's nice to see lives in Cybertron.
I wonder what Maccadam‘s transformation during the second memory scene looked like. What could possibly cause Megatron to leave the hangout?
Also, Maccadam reminds me of Vector Prime because of the future predictions he said to Bumblebee and Windblade (reminds me of Transformers: Cybertron), although I’m aware he’s implied to be Alchemist Prime now (thanks TFWiki).
Could ‘King of the dinosaurs’ imply that they may meet Grimlock on Earth later on? I remember one of the future episodes had a synopsis saying Bumblebee and Windblade meet an old friend...
Anyone got a link?
