I would say the IDW collections as they are the best format for their G1 comics. The premium editions are too hefty and the trades are all soft cover.

I buy the singles, if you're looking to get into it though, the IDW collections are best

Trades only. In fact, IDW's TF stuff was the first thing I dropped to trade-waiting, since I couldn't justify paying $3.99 for a single issue.

    Mostly TPBs, sometimes singles.

I mostly buy singles, but will shell out the cash for a trade if it's something really special and it's earned it (coughLSOTWcough).

And come January or so, I'll be buying my first IDW hardcover (coughLSOTWagaincough).

In my opinion, IDW Transformers are better when read in trade

Agreed, they haven't been good at putting a full story in a single issue since the Furman-era Spotlights. Can't justify spending the $4 on bits and pieces of a horribly decompressed story. I did buy both the single issues and the excellent trade of Chris Mowry's Reign of Starscream (with the commentary, easter eggs, and character profiles as well as the usual sketch and cover galleries, it's probably the only trade aside from Last Stand of the Wreckers to really give readers a LOT of bang for their buck).

Just buy the trades off amazon. You can usually get them for about 10 dollars. I also buy the collections so I have a larger print of the comics to read and their pretty cheap on amazon as well. I can't justify the price of singles. IDW lost me on those after devastation.

I'm in for neither one. As much as I like Transformers, the comics are just something I wouldn't reread.

As a rule I prefer individual comics, since I am a collector. However, I doubt that much of the live action movie stuff issued by IDW (e.g. The Reign of Starscream) will ever appreciate in value, so trades are my preference there.

    I buy the singles.

I much prefer reading trades, but haven't the patience to wait for them.

I really want to support the comic and idw for publishing it. I am just pleased that a G1 comic is up and going again.

I wait for the TPB. Though I don't know if I'll be able to do that for Regeneration One...I might have to buy a comic once a month for the first time in fourteen years...

Used to buy trades for convenience, but since I got my iPad, I've moved to digital single issues.

I prefer trades, and all of the non-Transformers comics that I read I buy exclusively in trade. For TF comics I get the singles (used to be floppies, but now I've gone digital), partially because I'm too curious to wait 6-8 months for the trade, and partially because I want to support the sales.
