Let me start by saying I like the new TF classics line. The thing is, I was hoping for more. My dream is to one day see working G1 characters redone to look like the original cartoon series. My question is...why hasn't Takara already done this? Is it too difficult? Do they not know how?
When looking at the TF classics Bumblebee figure. It looks like he has a similar transformation system and construction to the G1 Smokescreen/Prowl/Bluestreak mold. Instead of applying an updated mold to Bumblebee, why not just apply it to an update of Smokescreen/Prowl/Bluestreak?

...Classics Bumblebee doesn't transform anything like Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen, that's why. Bumblebee uses the top of the vehicle for a torso, the side panels are on his arms, a lot of rear bulk on his back, the front becomes his feet... where is Prowl in that?

Anyway... Fact is a lot of the character models from the G1 cartoon are hard to do in toy forms because they're so radically changed from their toy counterparts. You see the Masterpiece Convoy figure, that's the first example of show and toy accuracy, and Starscream will be the second.

Point of this line was to use the original toys with modern style and technology and in that aspect Classics filled all of my expectations. Outside of the Masterpiece line I doubt we'll ever see a line of animation-perfect toys.

    Quoted for truth

    Hasbro's DEFINATELY hit the Jackpot

Who know maybe if the classics line is well recieved, maybe Hasbro will consider EXTENDING the line slightly. If they keep up these designs I doubt many of us would complain :D

I sure as heck hope so.
I know I'll be picking up every one of these figs, and can only hope they sell enough for a third or even fourth wave.

Yeah I really don't see the Datsun triplets in Classics Bumblebee. I love the fact they're updating the characters...it's not 1984 anymore.

the classic line looks good. Will it be like the ALT line? meaning that it's strong in the beginning and becoming close-to-poor in the middle of the line?, poor examples of alt line are rollbar, silver prowl and richotchet?... this is just my opinion.

They really need to expand this line to run side by side with the movie toys, or at least run the first two waves faster so we can get more... Starscream looks so damn good, I need to have it released as all three classic seekers. There's also characters that deserve releases, as well, Ironhide has never gotten a true homage outside his Botcon remold of Tow-Line, and we could get Ratchet from him at the same time. Since we have the name now how about Shockwave? He'd lend himself more to those bright colors a toy gun needs to have these days. What about remolding Bumblebee into Cliffjumper? And as long as we're getting Triple Changers... I NEED BLITZWING!

I wonder if the supposedly short shelf life of Classics will be considered more a blessing or a curse. The downside of course is a short run means fewer toys, but on the upside, the seemingly inevitable repaints might be spread out over time and future lines, rather than bogging up the tail end of the line's run like the previous lines.

    ... At least I hope.

I don't know how possible it would be to do cartoon accurate designs for every character. Alot of the character designs in the show were proportionally designed more human than the toys without regard for the scaling of the alt mode parts that are visible in robot mode. I'd love to see someone explain how you'd make a cartoon accurate Ironhide (no cheating and adding a combat deck either...he didn't have one in the show).

Personally I'm not crazy about slavish cartoon accuracy in the first place as the designs were fairly dull to me.

I love the Classics line. It's the first line that I will purchase 3 of (one robot, one vehicle, one MISB).

I think this line looks great. Very much looking forward to Bumblebee.

I just hope they manage to do a good few before everything goes Movie. I'd love a new Ratchet, Sandstorm, Dead End (the original,) Gears, Blurr and Ravage.

I'm happy with the Alternator versions of Prowl, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack and Red Alert, so in a way, I'm hoping they don't come out with those again.

A Brawn with a cartoon-accurate face would be most welcome. After Bumblebee, he was the minibot with the most screen time.

And it would be fantastic to see the Insecticons updated for the Classics line.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. It's why I plan to put a face plate on Bumblebee. The toy's face was so much cooler looking than the cartoon's.

That's also Why I'd like to see Ironhide keep his battle sled, if he were to get an update.

I don't mind a battle sled if it doesn't cost Ironhide bulk and mass. That's why I passed on the Botcon set. He's kind of a string bean in that mold. Ratchet worked, Ironhide didn't. It would need to be done differently this time.
