This HAS been posted on TFW, but only in TFGD and Sightings, as far as I can tell. I can't find a past N&R thread or FP announcement. I know a few people are still interested in Attacktix, so I thought a thread here was warranted. The Series 2 Transformers Attacktix Starter set (containing G1 Optimus, G1 Megatron, Cybertron Skywarp (Starscream redeco), and Energon Landquake (Landmine redeco)) has been released, and found in the US and UK at least as early as December. The release seems to be limited and prices have been clearance level -- Dollar General ($5) and TJ Maxx (~$6) in the US, and at an unnamed store (£2.99) in the UK. This is likely all we'll see of the G1 Attacktix figures, as the line seems to be canceled. Credit should go to Bass X0 and Repainted, who both posted on 12/13/07. Repainted's post also includes a link to a picture of the set. Also, this post by Dave van Domelen on alt.toys.transformers was the source of the TJ Maxx mention.
Unnamed UK store, can we get any more specific info? I'd love to find these guys. My guess is Home Bargains, they had the tf and Marvel starters, as well as the Starwars, Ghost rider and TF battle masters.
Same here. All they did was clog shelves and pegs here. We still have them sitting on the shelves at my store, in fact.
I thought I remembered seeing a grimlock attacktix proto. Was he supposed to be a booster? I collect Grimlocks so that's the one I wanted. I assume he won't be released now?
I never thought I would pick up this line but I couldn't resist when TRU had a clearance on the booster packs for $1.98 last year. I just picked up the series 2 starter set on ebay for $7.50. I couldn't find the starter set 2 during X-mas at TJ- Maxx and Marshalls. Its a shame, I was looking to collect this next series with G1 Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Grimlock. The series 2 start guide shows all 18 of the booster pack figures including Arcee and Cybertron Galvatron.
Better not be dead.....I want a retail Bumblebee to go with my prototype......and I want the movie version, too!!
Given that I'm entirely biased towards this product...however, the art for Prime and Megatron in this set is incredible imho. Since they have such large weapons anyway, they don't suffer much from the "super deformed look" that some like and others lament about this line. As a trivia note, Landquake's special power is unique currently, he is the only figure released that has it.
