I'm starting to take a shine to the figure, however...just him being at a voyager pricepoint doesn't quite sit right with me for some reason...like 20 bucks I'd rather spend on a couple deluxes or a (IMO) better/bigger voyager. Moreso undecided on him than I was..but if I do get him I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and be a completionist for this line.
After getting to fiddle with the test shot, I'd have to say that it's got just as much mass as your average Voyager. There's a reason he's named Bulkhead. Plus, he's got an awesome transformation, and he's articulated up the wazoo.
Just got Bulkhead today and I can't put him down. Even though I liked several of the Movie figures, this guy makes them all seem like a distant and sub-par dream. I'd go so far as to say he's the embodiment of perfection in a transforming toy: Looks great in both modes, has an extremely fluid and intuitive transformation that is complex yet easy, heavy-duty construction, loads of articulation, awesome head sculpt, perfect colors with nothing garish or overdone, and has personality. I just can't say enough nice things about him. I got totally burnt out on Transformers after last year and thought I was going to be done with them for a while. This guy brought me back.
Gah! Mine isn't here yet, should be showing up any day now. You're just making the wait that much harder!!!
Is yours coming from an overseas seller I assume? I got mine from a seller in Taiwan and was surprised that it only took 10 days or so to get here.
solid, if a bit short in bot mode. love the wrecking ball gimmick. hes solid, id prolly sing more praises if i only just got him alone.
My two cents... One of the brand-new characters in TF: Animated, Bulkhead has been said to be similar to Fantastic Four's The Thing; he's big, tough and clumsy with a heart of gold. And now he's on my shelf!!! Bulkhead's Vehicle Mode is generally referred to as a "troop transport"- the sort of personnel bus used by SWAT teams. It's in the traditional military green colorscheme. Not much to say about this vehicle- it's a tad bland. It's a plus that everything fits together perfectly (no obvious robot parts sticking out or anything. Robot Mode has attracted a level of hatred not seen since the days of Energon Fatimus Prime. However, Bulkhead's larger size seems to work to his advantage- he's not horribly bloated the way Prime was. He does have really stubby legs, though. Bulkhead has 2 gimmicks, one for each arm- The right arm has a sort of punching-uppercut gimmick, not unlike Deluxe BM Primal's infamous "poo-flinger" attack arm. Bulkhead's second gimmick is a lot more fun: his trademark wrecking ball, which launches from the left palm. Bulkhead's robot mode is a lot of fun, despite excessive kibble. Also, it is my sad duty to inform you that he CANNOT form the infamous "lounge-chair." Overall, I like Bulkhead a lot. He's a fine new addition to the Autobots.
That's sorry to hear about the lounge chair. That was the first thing I was going to try. Although, as much as I've been digging the figures, and I know I'm still going to love him, Bulkhead is SHORTER than deluxe Movie Jazz?! Seriously?
However with Bulkhead, his character design actually is big, whereas Energon Prime's toy was bloated and compromised due to the combining gimmick and housing the electronics.
Not really. His front end in alt mode is a bit hollow save for his head and the automorphish head flip gimmick. Once he transforms most of that space gets filled up by compression and his vehicle mode floorboard areas.
LOL. I was just being contrary to KA's repeated use of solid. I figured he was probably pretty dense, gear/parts wise
