Has anyone got any thoughts on this? It comes out here in three days and was wondering if the comics were any good.
I for one am looking forward to it. I've skimmed through the issues and they seem nicely drawn and quite funny. My only question is... Are they going to include the Rise of Safeguard story?
i hope to get it when it comes out here. judging from the wiki articles it has some decent stories (lockdown meets blackaracnia, rachet meets oilslick) but we all know I'm just getting it to see "prof. princess" deco starscream
The mini-series was really good fun and really added a lot to the overal mythos of the series. I highly recomend it.
Yes, it breifly details TF&RO, then goes to stories that are "off camera". (I.e., what happened to Starscream after TF&RO, how BA got to Earth, stuff like that.
I saw the book but passed on it because it's a smaller page size than the single issues. Not a digest but in-between.
Yes, the TPB is supposed to include Rise of Safeguard. It contains original stories that take place between the episodes. All issues are written by Marty Isenberg and the art is very good. Definately a must have for any TFA fan.
Well, this finally arrived. Great story, good art on some, but there is some truely God-awful art at times. As far as I can tell, the artist's name is just "Boo". He did the "Bots of Science", Safeguard comic, and the Swindle comic, and I think one else. Aside from those making me want to throw the book out, I think it's great. I really hope they do some more comics.
... Have you... have you even watched the show? The Swindle comic is my main gripe. There's one panel where Blitzwing looks scary. Swindle is also "off-model" almost constantly. And there's the imfamous Jetfire/Jetstorm/Sentinel cover where Jetfire's mouth is positively disturbing.
Comics aren't exactly pumped out in Korean animation factories. Non-Dreamwave comics anyway. Maybe they aren't the right medium for you if you are so inflexible.
Ugh. This approach, huh? I'm not saying they have to look exactly like the show (I put "off-model" in quotes because technically they're all off-model if you want to be picky) but Animated is already an exaggerated style, and that's good, but when you exaggerate the style even more it just looks like it's trying too hard. (not always. The art in the Lockdown comic was fine, in fact Lockdown in particular was drawn quite well) The art in the other comics weren't bad, and they weren't exactly like the show. I'm not inflexible, I just have certain tastes. (the fact that I like Animated as much as l do should be proof enough) And these are just not to my tastes. (it's kinda like Nick Roche's style compared to, say E.J. Sue's art)
Borrowed this from my library. The art done by Brizuela and Matere really capture the art style while Boo's art doesn't. Any way, the following are my guesses of when each issue took place Issue 1: Took place after "Home is Where The Spark Is" Issue 2: Took place after "Total Meltdown" Issue 3A: Took place after "Nanosec" Issue 3B: Took place before the flashbacks of "Thrill of the Hunt" Issue 4A: Took place after "Headmaster" Issue 4B: Took place after "Blast from The Past" Issue 5A: Took place before the flashbacks of "Along Came Spider" Issue 5B: Took place after "Thrill of the Hunt" Issue 6: Took place after "Autoboot Camp" Right?
I think Boo's art is fantastic. Bots of Science was my favorite segment from the entire Animated comic.
Kind of like this? Now, I'm not saying I don't like your picture (I do, for it's exaggerated style), but what you're saying seems a bit hypocritical. Where exactly do you draw the line at too exaggerated? *not trying to be aggressive*
I don't like that picture, I made it over a year ago and didn't totally love it then. I could never, and still can't draw the Animated style and tried to hide it by exagerrating it. Boo's art style is not the same, because unlike me, he can draw, I just personally don't care for his style because, well, it's kinda creepy at times. He adds gums to the smiles and just makes them look scary, and all the eyes have weird tearduct designs. (though the worst I've ever seen was the Jetstorm smile) I don't hate it entirely, he really gets across the expressive nature of the designs, which is impressive considering they're still drawings and not animated like the cartoon. But sometime caracters are too thin or too fat, which goes against the design's intention to portray the character. And like I said, sometimes it's actually 'bleh' and puts me off reading. Could've fooled me. Considering how long ago I made that, you must've gone to some length to find it.
Well... I like it... Not really. I have a good memory, so I remembered it. Then it was just a simple matter of searching for threads you started in the Fan Arts forum.
Going to get flamed for this... Bought it a while ago, not impressed. I liked a few of the stories, but overall, I can't recommend this unless you really care about what happened between the lines. Some comics were just...not needed. For one thing, the Wraith and Swindle comics were good, it's just that I would've liked to see some more behind the scenes comics in their places.
