    talk about stupid

CINCINNATI -- A man sending a text message avoided being hit by a train going in one direction only to be struck by another train.

Witnesses told police the man was looking down at his cell phone as he crossed some railroad tracks around 9 a.m. at Township Road and Elmwood Avenue in Elmwood Place.

Witnesses said the man waited for a southbound train to pass, put his head down and started walking across the tracks. The man apparently did not see or hear a northbound train as it approached, witnesses said.

“It's one of those things, you kind of see it coming but you don't think it's going to happen like that, and the way he was walking and stuff and I saw that train closing in, I honestly thought he had made it,” said witness Mike Billups.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to University Hospital with undisclosed injuries

I've never sent anyone a text message before, it seems so stupid to me. If I need to talk to them, I call.

I don't even know how to send one.

No kidding, unless "undisclosed injuries" includes decapitation. Seems like an easily avoided accident to me.

Agreed. In the thirty seconds it takes me to type the message, I could be on the phone with them. I don't get it either.

I have only sent one text.

People are stupid and this confirms it.

I wonder what the text was?

Text messages are free worldwide. When half of your friends live in the next area code over, it just makes fiscal sense.

Yeah, that makes way more sense then calling.

At my second job I work with a lot of teenagers and can't help but laugh at the amount of dumb ass texts' that they send. At least one every ten min.

I always wonder what is so important.

Where I come from, texting is a lot cheaper than calling.

But that doesn't really matter when all it takes to change the situation is common sense. =_=

Texting trumps calling simply for the cost. Why bother calling to leave a 12 second message, when you can just send a text?
