When it comes to the greatest rock band in the world, only the greatest flash game in the world will do.

Tenacious D: Devil May Fry: The Game

Warning: Not for pansies. This game is haaaaard! (Yes, it's so hard that I was required by law to use five a's.)

Protip: Smack that devil's uvula with all your might!

That was stupid as hell - why have the fret buttons be horizontal when the notes come in a vertical orientation?

    Someone wasn't, you know, THINKING.

Someone wasted time making a flash game for a movie that failed miserably?

I actually like Jack Black. But most of his recent flicks have been stinkfests. I didn't even understand the appeal of this last one. 2 old, fat, losers want to start a rock band?

    Meh.

No, it's just a performance flick for his band, Tenacious D. The plot is incidental.

Sort of. Tenacious D is a band/comedy act that predates the general public's awareness of Jack Black.

Yeah, D's been around for a while. Check out their early stuff. I particularly recommend the song Tribute.

Jeez, if you didn't realise that, no wonder you thought it was stupid. Without the band, that movie would be shit.

    Cosmic Shame, Jesus Ranch, Dio

They've got some cool live shit that I've never seen at retail (TV themes and other goofy crap).

Seen the D live twice and they're awesome. For those not in the know, they've been together since the mid nineties making their first film appearance for about 10 seconds in Bio Dome (yeah I know, not a much to be proud of). But they're the brain child of Jack Black, Kyle Gass and Bob Odenkirk (I believe David Cross had a hand in it as well).

They go way beyond the creation of the movie, which seems to be an attempt to push the act into the mainstream while at the same time giving long time fans something new. It's a shame most people think it's just some random, lame new Jack Black movie and don't realize they've been together for a decade. Anyway, I recommend their first album and the complete masterworks DVD (which includes all 6 episodes of the TV series as well as a concert) for the best D experience.

I remember watching their show. It was funny as hell. Too bad it was only six episodes. :(

The Complete Masterworks is one of my favorite DVDs ever. I love the D, mind you, but having almost all of the important stuff in one place is awesome. Performances, all of their TV shows, videos, etc. I hope that trend continues with the POD DVD as they've continued to do some awesome stuff since the Masterworks release. Like the recent SNL performances, Spike commercials and the flash video of Classico, etc.

"Naish" as I like to call them rocks my socks off and it's difficult for me to get enough Jack Black in my life. Kyle brings everything to a whole other level. He's the straight man whose facial expressions get me every time. And it's usually JB whose face sells it initially.

Wow, that was a ramble. Guess I'm not fully awake yet. But it matters not! Kage and Jables rock on!

Yes, I believe the lack of understanding is what the main issue is with the D right now. Too many people just don't "get it."

Perhaps some of those not in the know should be warned of the, uh, extreme nature of some of the "Psycho Fan" content.  That DVD does rok sox, though.
