Sorry to open up old wounds.

But the last podcast they mention animated. And....man...why did they cut it at seasion 3? Was they ever find a reason? or commonly decided apon a reason?

It was not performing as well as hoped, Hasbro wanted to put their focus almost fully on Revenge of the Fallen, and relations with the Carton Network may not have gone completely smoothly, from a business perspective. It's also possible that Hasbro's desire to start a competing network contributed to, or partly stemmed from, this relationship with Cartoon Network.

Mainly the Revenge of the Fallen thing, I think.

This is just a guess, but probably because of ROTF.

I had also heard rumors (and I can't back this up) that Animated was originally meant as a way for Hasbro to hedge their bets from a brand identity perspective. That's why it was such a radically different project from the first movie, in case the movie didn't work well for Hasbro. Unfortunately for Animated, the first film was a spectacular success from a merchandising perspective, meaning that Hasbro chose to back that horse from then on, essentially making Animated's days numbered.

Maybe we'll still get some comics someday? : (

As good as Animated was, I don't really care anymore why. Long live Prime!

The movie succeeding and lackluster sales certainly didn't help.

However one of the reasons I often hear is that Hasbro announced the HUB as a network for their programming while the show as still on the air. This kind of made CN angry so they pulled their support and since Animated was a joint venture...yeah you can see where this is going.

Many reasons, including Hasbro wanting to pursue their own channel (HUB) with their in-house produced show (Prime), Movies being more popular, CN failing at life, etc.

Oh hey...whoa...your going to have to explain that one to me mister...

(Going by the assumption that you watched all of animated and liked it)
We put 3 years into that show.
And despite the fact of what happened in the last 3 episodes of Prime (no one say any spoilers). I still think animated had built more story and mythology behind it than Prime has.
Can you really just say 'out with the old in with the new' and not look bad? In this fandom?!

Three years is a good run. It is better that Animated left us remembering it fondly and wanting more than running itself into the ground and souring it's own memory.

It's not like Animated will suddenly get a miraculous revival. It's been dead for a while and it will stay dead, no use moaning about it now even if it was an awesome show.

I'm not going to argue the story or mythology point since I feel Prime has just as much if you count the background novels and such. It also hasn't had the same episode count as Animated yet.

It also makes stuff like the Botcon set and comics more special.

Because it was over. Megatron was captured, Optimus was a hero, and the Decepticons were defeated.

They did have ideas for what to do after that.

However it's for this reason that I'm glad it ended when it did. At least they managed to provide a satisfying resolution to the story rather than have it get cut short.

I was under the assumption that, Animated wasn't profiting as much as it was costing, or something along those lines. Hence why they cut the toyline short (Not much though), and then cancled teh show. Then ROTF happened.
