I really want to buy them because I love having physical copies of games, but I don't know anything about how they work. Are they one time use only?

I've been thinking about getting the DLC discs myself, but I'd rather wait for the Game of the Year edition.

No, they are not one time use. You place the disc in your Xbox 360, download the add-ons, and then you can try and return it or trade it in at GameStop. That's what my brother-in-law did.

If the disk is allowed to be used more than once, what's to stop someone from letting their buddy download it also.

I saw that but I'm pretty sure Shivering Isles and Operation Achorage are disks. (I know, Shivering Isles is for Oblivion.)

That is because the disc for that one will be coupled with Broken Steel.

Bethesda is making so much money from me. I've so far downloaded all the expansions (except OA) and will keep doing so, and I'm planning to buy all the disks for 360 and the GOTY edition for the PC when they come out. Not to mention guides and collector's edition merchandise as well.
