    It doesn't matter if it was $0.07 or $70. He beat and robbed a 73 year-old man, so he deserves to suffer the consequences.

    The punk beat up an old man and robbed him. The fact that he only got away with seven cents is not the point, the assault is.

    Assault and Battery + Petty theft. Petty makes it a misdemeanor. The attack, well, I think that carried the weight of the punishment. I'm not sure on the how hard of punching in the face and knocked down. Let's just say I'm not surprised on the judges sentencing. But I'll stop there.

    But he got charged for the robbery. I don't agree with that. Assault, battery, yes. But the robbery charge was dumb.

    I doubt they convicted based on the amount stolen. It was more to do with the way they did it. Violently and by gunpoint. Thats classed as First Degree Robbery hence the conviction.

    Punching a 73-year-old man in the face for all the money he had on him is detestable. And then he lied about it in court. Whether it was seven cents or seven grand, doesn't matter.

    Sooner or later these teens have to learn REAL LIFE is not a video game, there are life changing consequences when you beat and rob an old man, it's immaterial that the old guy didn't have a wallet filled with $100 bills.

    A harsh sentence, yeah. What's that old saying? Don't do the crime if you can't do the time?? Sadly, he's screwed up his life...hopefully other teens will sit up and take notice.
