well... guess that screws x-Box for any more DOA titles.... serves them right for screwing us PS owners with that license purchase.
I don't know whats more amusing, somebody being bitter about a video game series changing platforms or the fact that the series in question is DOA.
I love DOA. Wow -this goes way beyond my initial feeling that Itagaki was being a showboater. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Why, exactly, is he an ass? Because he doesn't like Devil May Cry? Because he speaks his mind? Because he makes good to great games depending on your exacting tastes? What is it, because I would love to hear it.
Itagaki is a big braggart, but he also puts his money where his mouth is. At a time when most Dreamcast games looked like higher resolution Playstation titles he made Dead or Alive 2. When most Xbox games looked exactly like Playstation 2 games he made Ninja Gaiden. Those games are far and way graphically superior to anything on their respective hardware platforms. Whether he accomplished this by his own talent or by his ability to harness the talents of others is irrelevant. He accomplished it. I think his game design influence can be seen on other titles. Devil May Cry 3 was certainly more difficult than the prior two titles (perhaps too difficult). It came out after Ninja Gaiden. His female character designs have certainly influenced the game industry. Look at the character models of any female character from the original Soul Calibur and compare it with the model for Soul Calibur 4. I don't agree with everything the man says, but it is refreshing to see someone who is not afraid to say what he thinks.
Because he's arrogant as hell... disses his own staff for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and he has the nerve to claim that the XBox 360 is the most powerful system. And yes, because he disses Devil May Cry.. when his game ain't much better, I don't give a fuck WHAT you say. What, you didn't think I had a reason? I also think I better clarify... my hatred is aimed at HIM, not YOU... so keep that in mind before you consider raping me with your moderator powers...
There are people like this all over the industry... and yet they don't reach the level of arrogance that this guy does... well, maybe John Romero... and yet, I find myself rooting for him and the other 300 people in the lawsuit... go figure.
