News Post: Techland Interviews Peter Cullen
So WFC =/= Prime after all.
I never thought so either.
Thank God, now everyone can shut up saying WFC is the lead-in to Prime. And TFWiki can take out the stupid references.
Very interesting. I like how he said that he would just love to have a Peterbilt truck much like Movie-verse Optimus Prime.
Finally a semi-straight answer.
Zomg peter cullen likes the flames
I never knew that the movements of Prime's lips were taken from Cullen's!!! That's cool!
After hearing him say that he loves Prime's Alt-mode and wishes he had one... I wish he did too, it would be cool.
How cool would it be to see Peter Cullen Cruising in one?
Yes....it was driving me crazy too.
Since it's Hasbro's property, i'd wait for an official comment on them. I love Peter and all, but I wouldn't consider him particularly 'in the know' about what Hasbro plans, continuity wise.
WfC is likely just a backstory that may get the odd reference in Prime, it won't be a direct sequel. We know already since half the cast of WfC isn't listed as being part of Prime's main cast (yet Bulkhead is).
I remember at BotCon 07 he said he'd like one of those trucks, right?
It'd be amazing if, once he was done recording Optimus for the third film, Bay personally gave him one of the Prime trucks.
The guy still needs a cameo as Prime's holographic driver! Come on Kruger! Write it in there, and Bay, have mercy!!!
I talked with Cullen for a few hours back at Botcon 2007, if there's one thing he could walk away with from the three Transformers films it's that truck. He loves it and seriously wants one of the movie Trucks to keep, not only because it looks amazing and he's the voice of Optimus Prime, but because he used to drive those big Peterbilt trucks all around as a job years back. He told us stories of having to turn the steering wheel round and round just to make turns, sitting high above normal cars on the road. Said they were a complete joy to drive, especially on the open road with no cars around for miles. Driving that truck would bring back great memories for him.
A truck that can also fly? They should give Prime some Powermaster type armor for the third film. Just take Jetfire's parts and rebuild them to become a trailer for Prime to haul and then a jetpack for him to fly around with.
I'm sorry but this is really grasping at straws. He plays the main character in BOTH WfC and TFP. Give him enough credit that he would be able to look at what both of those are doing and saying "Wow, these are really not related to each other."
Yeah, but every Optimus Prime pretty much says the same things, in the same situations.
Freedom, yadda yadda sentient somethingorother.
He reads lines off a piece of paper that's given to him, he also does this for plenty of other TV shows. Sure he reads the lines, but do you think he knows how Hasbro plan their TF continuities? Hell no. He's a voice actor, he's paid to talk lines, not discuss TF continuity.
Yes, he just reads the lines. He isn't acting, which would mean he has to at least have a passing familiarity to the story. He certainly wasn't prepped. And, oh, he certainly would never have asked "Hey, is this related to the movies or video game I just did?" He just showed up one day, got in a both, read lines with no direction, then left.
The design/art direction doesn't line up with TFP at all. AT ALL. We might only have seen Bumblebee but he looks NOTHING like the WfC Bee. If Hasbro does say "Oh yeah, they are totally related" then its going to be REALLY artificial, like how TakaraTomy says all TF stories are one bit continuity.
Awwww... this interview was "spot on" ....he still wants a "Prime" truck..Bay and co. should give him the movie truck when they're finished...would be fitting
He is acting. He's thinking of his brother when he reads the lines. He put himself, in the shell of the character.
It is not because, the actor is not on screen that he isn't one.
Some people just have a hard time reading outloud.
If he couldn't act, he wouldn't be doing what he does.
I enjoyed reading this interview.
Therefore, I really doubt, that he has any clues on what's next.
But good to the videogame industry, his carreer is somewhat lengtened.
En route for tf3!
