When the teaser came out on the 20th, I was without speakers. So as I watched a thousand times before checking out Rocky that following Friday, I was expecting some epic score. I was surprised to hear no music...but the trailer took on that of a dream sequence. So this is what I hear when I see the trailer. Layed off the high end strings b/c it sounds sythesized enough as it is...didn't want to make it worse... guitars are also a mainstay in my limited arsenal...left those out this time too. This is my second time ever scoring a trailer. Synced with Sony Vegas...used Jester's fanboy re-edit, b/c it was the only one I have downloaded (plus I like the TF sounds). Hope you like, give the file a minute to load.

Brilliant! The added transformation sounds in the Pentagon scene and Blackout and Prime's transformations were perfectly in sync. Nice score, too. Sounds both like TF music and something used in a Bay-directed film. Like Shade said, it made it even better. Well done (Vince would be proud)!

PS Loved your Ultimate TF score!

I'm just thankful that they had no music....I wouldn't have been able to score it unless I took all of the sound effects out....and you need those:)

This is, so far, my absolute favorite version of the trailer. I liked Jester's redux, but yours adds that last, necessary touch of brevity. Fantastic job.

Indeed, Jester's brought something good to us all, but you brought us something Original, and the last part with Optimus speaking just sealed the deal for me.

check out a couple of emails I got from some movie reviewers here in Va:

This is really good. The only thing I would say might need to be changed is to break the music up more. You have a one score running through long parts of the trailer and normally in trailers, they change the music frequently. But honestly, I thought you were showing the originally scored trailer. I had to go find it to verify you weren't pulling a fast one on us.

Keep up the good work and let us know when you do any more of these.

    Scott

Very nicely done. The score matched the tempo of the action in the trailer. Like Scott, it made me want to double check that this wasn’t actually the score for the trailer.

Thanks for contacting us. It’s good to know that we have talented people in the Richmond area finding work. I look forward to hearing your work in the future. Good luck with Pocahauntus!

    Mike,

I've played it twice now, and I think it is quite professional. Stirring, even. You could certainly shop it to the companies that make trailers as a sample of your work -- if you had several other examples with it -- and try to pick up a freelance job or two.

Now, for one tiny suggestion. I wish I could tell you what note it is specifically, but I am far from having perfect pitch. Still, right at the 1:18 mark, at the end of a mini-crescendo (but in the middle of a larger one), is a note that you might want to try adding another horn a fifth higher, just for a beat or two. I realize that my suggesting this is like you suggesting where I should put a comma, or a different way of phrasing something, and it is none of my business and all of yours. But give it a try. See what happens.
