Hey, I'm just wondering what the personalities of the members of Team Bullet Train are. Mainly because they'll be main characters in my comic strip...

I wish there was a RiD DVD...

There was one released in the UK and I know a couple members here have sets available if they're willing to help you out. I'm still waiting for a set myself.

Rail Spike was the older, wiser member of the team.
Rapid Run was the smooth-talking, cool headed member.
Midnight Express struck me as being somewhat eccentric ("I know! Let's cover the tracks in glue!").

That's interesting. I haven't watched all RiD episodes and didn't get much of an impression from them.

    My impression of Team Shinkansen (Car Robot) is;
    J5 (Rail Spike) = Stresshead
    J7 (Rapid Run) = Gung-ho
J4 (Midnight Express) = Country Bumpkin (stereotype)

I know no one asked me, but it's interesting how characters change when a show's dubbed...

honestly i didnt really care for RID i thought that it was poorly done and it could have been a better story over all even though the trains where pretty freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!

I just didn't like the RID show in general, it seemed like a huge step backwards from BW/M.

    Though the toys were awesome.

RID wasn't that good at all IMO; Car Robots was a much better show. The toys, however, ruled.

I've been watching the RiD series now and the trains are second to the Autobot Brothers as my favorite team. mx-01 archon has a good summation of their personalities. I liked that they were often in service as commuter trains and had people to drop off before they could respond to their mission.

Rail Racer seemed to have a distinct personality too, that of an ADD hothead. I liked that he could skate on his wheels.

I can't compare to Car Robots because I don't know Japanese and it's never been subbed into English. I think it's funny as hell though. Much more entertaining than broody BM.

I really enjoyed RiD/Car Robots. Like many of us on the boards, it's what brought me back to collecting TFs in a big way.

I liked R.I.D. I hope they release it on DVD in the U.S. some day.

Definitely. There are at least a half-dozen episodes that never aired here!

I liked the RiD cartoon pretty okay.

The toys are among my favorites ever though.

I found part one thanks to PlayTrade (play.com's 2nd hand marketplace) - only cost £5.99!

Ah yes, RiD is what brought me back into toy collecting.

Let's not forget that RiD is still has the best English dub of any imported Japanese TF series. I honestly had quite a bit of fun watching the series.

Now this makes me curious... I wonder if their personalities were designed to reflect the particular line that their train modes would work?

Like was the country bumpkin a train that would normally provide service to rural areas? Was the stressed-out guy a train that would run commuter service for salarymen? I mean, those associations would be automatic for a Japanese audience.

If so, that would be sort of cool! :)
