    So a 4 way stick-it-in-her-pooper?

Normally, I'd say yes, she's guilty. But all the guys (victims) were 18 and consented to sex. Should she be tried for rape? No. Improper relations with students? Again, normally I'd say yes, but it sounds like a gray area to me, and I don't know where the line is drawn when students reach 18 years of age. But she'll very likely get prison time, although I think 20 years is a little harsh, given the circumstances.

The catch is that the guys are all 18 and consented to this.

It's only a matter of time till you will see some defendant, having their partners sign legal documents before the act saying they consented to it.

That has nothing to do with this article Astrotrain ... The fact that the students involved were adults under law is not the POINT. A teacher who had sexual relations with several adult students deserves the full punishment under the law ...

She should lose her job for this. The fact that they were of adult age (barely) would mean that she may not be prosecuted for statutory rape. I doubt she will get a stiff prison sentence for this.

^This. She was in a position of authority. This is a sick individual who used her power to take advantage of these young people.

The difference in this is that sexual/improper relations with a student is a separate offence under the law, apparently. That's why their consent is irrelevant (but also why charges of rape were not laid). I imagine much of the issue is, as in a case of office sexual harassment, the power difference between the two parties (it is likely closer to a parent-child relationship than a worker-employer relationship). Even if that difference in power and the resulting potential for abuse of responsibility and trust is not involved in this particular case, she still committed an act that is punishable by law. It would need to be proven in court that her students felt under no compulsion to follow through on her requests, and if this is the case it could be a considerable mediating factor in her sentencing.

Juxtaposing this with a normal relationship, where the parties are assumed to be on equal footing in terms of power structure, is the reason why no impropriety is assumed to occur. I imagine there already are people (paranoid people) who request that their sexual partners sign sworn statements or statements of consent. I imagine this kills the mood pretty well, in many cases.

I don't know, in my personal opinion, this seems a massively unprofessional move, but not a criminal one. But I don't make the laws in Texas.

Multiple counts, means it works out to a max of five years each.

The biggest thing this chick should be charged with and sentenced for is sheer stupidity. Group sex with students... who are 18 year old males... recording it with cell phones. Gee, how could anything possibly go wrong with that little scenario? If there's any demographic of people who know how to keep their mouths shut about sex conquests, it's definitely 18 year old dudes.
