Has anyone had any issues with receiving their tax returns this year? Supposedly, the IRS installed some new security patches in their network or somthing like that, and it's now causing random delays in taxes that were e-filed. Some people that filed at the end on January to as recently as the first week of February received their returns within 7-days via direct deposit. Others, myself included, haven't even received an update or anything. I filed 2/2, and the return was accepted by the fed an hour later. I checked the status at the "Where's My Refund" website 72-hours later (as recommended) and it says they have no records at this time. So, I checked every day since, and still nothing. It's going on 15-days now, and STILL nothing. The average time they allow is 10 to 21-days, but I've historically always received my return within a week. This is really frustrating, so I just wanted to see if anyone else is in the same predicament.
Hardly. I have the same deductions I've entered for the past four years, and nothing's changed except for the amounts. I talked to an IRS operator last night, and she didn't have any reports on it, which means it's processing. Oh yeah, I'm glad you found humor in the idea, though.
dude I'm from Canada. We take our taxes pretty lightly. I thought it was funny because I've seen people on american television get super riled up over tax returns/audits etc. The "lol" was me indicating that my suggestion was in jest. You need a thicker skin man.
No problem, then. It's just been a really frustrating time and that came off as snarky. It's all good, man. Foster- yeah, probably a good idea. One thing's for sure, I am NOT using Turbo Tax next year.
I'm in the same boat. I filed on the 4th of this month. I check Where's My Refund? and it keeps telling me there is no info at this time. But i received an email from the irs saying they accepted it on the 5th... I want my monies!
Hopefully, you'll get your money soon. I filed during the 3rd week of January and received my tax return last week.
That's good to hear! I'm not hugely worried since I know the money's coming, but not getting it when I thought I would is the real headache.
I used Turbo Tax and got my refund about a week or so after I filed. (funds for the family vacation this year!) I hope yours gets sorted out soon!
IIRC, one of the reasons for these delays is due to the IRS trying to prevent a scam that was being run in previous years. Basically, what criminals would do is steal someone's identity, then submit a tax return in that person's name super-early in the filing season, before most people file. The criminals would then be issued a refund and, when the actual taxpayer filed, the IRS would show that the taxpayer was already issued a refund. It was a huge mess to sort out and get everything fixed, so this year the IRS is paying a bit closer attention to early returns. Clark Howard talks a little about it here
My State return was just posted to my bank account today..and it's $196 less than it was supposed to be. No Federal yet.
the website states that there is an error with the "where's my refund" portion of the site and that returns are being processed only slightly later than they were supposed to be, but that the refunds should be received close to on time...
In Wisconsin we get a letter a few days after our refund listing what was taken out and why. Things like tickets and use of ambulances and the what not that go unpaid. Chuck
Not me. In fact, mine came the fastest it ever has (outside of using the instant H&R Block deal)...usually its a two week wait, but I filed electronically last Friday and it showed up today. --Moony
On a lark, I checked the Where's My Refund site this morning since it was down last night, and they finally have info saying I should get my refund by March 6. Sheesh. Filed 2/2, receive by 3/6. At least the 'by March 6' phrase means it could be anytime between now and then. And you think waiting for a package sucks...
