The IRS has given you until the 17th (Tues) to pay any federal tax and file either your tax return or extension as applicable.

I assume that most, if not all, states follow the IRS deadline. But if not, you've got until the 16th (Mon) to pay any state tax and file your tax return or extension (if filing a federal extension in and of itself isn't enough).

Remember, filing an extension is not an extension of time for paying any tax that may be due.

    Filed mine nice and early.

    Was getting $2500 back.

Then found out the IRS gave my return to pay my new wife's late students loans.

Sure am glad I got married last year :mad

Well. I could have filed a form for Injured Spouse. But since we were able to make payment arrangements on the remainder fo the loan, I decided to let it go as a big principal payment so we can fix her credit(the student loan was the only thing she had negetive). We have been together for 7 year and have 2 kids so to me it is worth it so we can get a better home loan when the time comes.

We would have liked to have had the $2500 but we could also afford to let it go and just have our saving lower than we expected for a while.

Just wanted to mention that this is not an all inclusive list of states. For example, there's no mention of CA. We have until the 17th as well.

Quick Google search...and I assume the APA knows what they're talking about...

I'd better just get it postmarked tomorrow for both federal and state. Day off anyway.

You're absolutely right. It's only an inclusive list for those six eastern states and the District of Columbia affected by the observation of Patriot's Day in Massachusetts.

We have a holiday, do you have one as well?

Calendar year corps had until March 15th to file returns or an automatic 6 month extension (form 7004).

That's a shame. Everyone should get a Monday holiday every once and a while.
