I got a chance to play Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Nintendo Wii at Anime Expo 09 in Los Angeles. And I gotta say that I had lots of fun playing it as it is very reminiscent of the older Marvel vs. Capcom series. There were total of five stations set up 4 with classic Wii controllers and the another with arcade sticks that had an image of the game on it. All characters were unlocked minus 1 that did not appear on the Tatsunoko side.

    Roster:

    Capcom:
    Ryu
    Chun-Li
    Batsu Ichimonji
    Alex
    Morrigan Aensland
    Soki
    MegaMan Volnutt
    PTX-40A
    Roll
    Saki Omokane
    Viewtiful Joe
    Yami

    Tatsunoko:
    Kent the Eagle
    Jun the Swan
    Tekkaman
    Doronjo
    Yatterman-1
    Polymar
    Gold Lightan
    Casshern
    Karas
    Hakushon Daimao
    Ippatsuman

It has similar controls to Capcom's other fighting series however there are no specific buttons for punches or kicks, just heavy, medium, and low attacks and a button for grab on the station that I played, this maybe different for the arcade stick version. It's safe to say that it was set in mind for the Wii with it's limited button configuration. And with that it does not severely limit ones abilities to pull of a string of combos and works just as well as Capcom's other fighting games. The characters themselves all seemed well balanced all having their strengths an weaknesses they also kept their original voice from the Japanese version, as for the bigger characters Gold Lightan and the PTX-40A they move slower, can take more hits before falling, they are also far stronger, and can not have a teammate making it more balanced. In all my impressions of this game is to simply put was it's awesome and I look forward to it's release which is due to be released in the U.S. early next year.

Heres some gameplay footage I took when me and my brother played the english version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom at Anime Expo 09.

Dude just get a classic controller, they're not bad for this kind of thing, I don't think you'd be sinking significant time in to it regardless.

Not sure if the game supports it. The Classic controller is okay so long as you aren't using the analog sticks IMO.

I'm not splashing out on a stick for what will likely be a distraction from the real meat :)

i guess, but if the stick's reasonably priced i'll consider it. from what i gather it plugs into the wiimote like the classic controller, so it might not be a massive wad.

it'd be a lot easier if they just released it on other consoles!

    Help me to understand this.

Even with the classic controller there is no way to choose between punches and kicks?
I suppose I could adjust, but that just seems weird.

Yeah judging from when I played there are no way to choose between punches and kicks there are just low medium and heavy attacks, and yeah it did feel weird at first but you can quickly get use to it.

Yeah I played it too and it did throw me off to just have 3 buttons for light, medium, and hard attacks. I'm too used to punches and kicks that I kept using the button for character switches when I was trying to combo an attack.

Yeah while playing against other people they also felt it weird and informed me while playing they were button smashing most of the time.
