Due to the new addition of Tarn in IDW's MTMTE Ongoing comic. It's safe to say that everyone who collects toy really wants one.

However in all likelihood if Hasbro was to give us one it wouldn't be a newly designed Voyager mold. It would be a deluxe repaint sold under the Generation's line. So the question at this point is which previous figure best suits Tarn. I've heard quite a few candidates. So which do honestly think Hasbro would use.

Note: This is only speculation none of us know what Hasbro has planed if anything so this is all in the nature of good fun. So let me know what you think.

If fucking Thundertron (I mean, seriously!?) got a new mould Voyager, I'm sure Tarn can get at least a new mould deluxe, if he gets a toy period.

But despite the current comcis being the best fiction TFs have gotten in years, I don't think Hasbro even considers them a possibility due to the history between comics and toys. It might be a while before they realise that toys based off comics characters are what we want, and even if they did, right now decide to do some, it won't be for a long time considering the time it takes to produce a figure.

I'd say Mindset retooled to have a BFG on his arm. And a new head.

Mindset or Megatron would be acceptable. The bodies of the other three are too different.

Huh...but before MTMTE I got the feeling that everyone practically hated Drift yet we still got a pretty decent toy of him.

Mind you, I would love a new mold of Tarn be it deluxe or voyager but I'm trying to be practical here.

Wait a Min, if Hasbro were to come out with a Tarn mold wouldn't that also take away from the possibility of a newer version of Trypticon, Metroplex, etc that you want so badly??? Seriously, not trying to be snarky.

On topic None: The closest IMO would be WFC Megs but I have no idea of what Tarn's alt mode is.

Since Hailstorm was made I have wanted a repaint where they drop the missile box and add an artillery gun that could clamp on the arm...soo....

No because it wouldn't be a new mold. It'd be another repaint with a little retooling where as the ones you mentioned would cost a whole lot more as they would need to be developed from nothing to a final product.

I have no idea what he looks like in the ocmic, so I can't really say.

However, because of this quote, I voted cause a hailstorm with an artillery gun would be badass in my book...and bought.

    But it's shorter than Hotrod.

At least WFC Megatron is one of the larger scale deluxe figures. Plus that Hailstorm mold is too stumpy for me...

A Megatron retool would be acceptable in my book, since the cannon is more important than the folded tread shoulders.

But truly, that design deserves a toy designed for it. It's just too epic.

    Crossovers Hulk.

... not actually going to happen, but it seems like the best fit.

The lineart there gives me a serious Energon Shockblast vibe.

It wouldn't be all that surprising if he got his own new mold in generations, really. He could be retooled/repainted into another character later.

If he ends up popular enough (and Hasbro and FunPub certainly seem to have noticed the fan reaction to LSotW, considering Guzzle, Ironfist/Fisitron and Overlord have received figures and now Impactor and other Wreckers are coming), I think a toy's possible and even a new mold is possible considering you can always redeco/remold it into something else later (Straxus into Skullgrin, Drift into Blurr).

If it's from Hasbro, I think a new mold is certainly a possibility. If it's from FunPub, well obviously that'll be a redeco/remold and then the "what mold fits best" question will come into play. Considering the reaction to the Overlord figure (which has tempered somewhat, since its release?) it's likely the mold selection will please no one, even if the figure itself ends up alright.

I don't read the comics and am wholly unfamiliar with Tarn. None of those mold do him any justice though; he looks bad as hell. Needs the third party treatment.

For pole purposes though, gotta be Meg's for the arm cannon.

Heads up for tarn lovers, he will be my first custom!

I'm going with a combination of a couple bots and some parts from a third( not to mention bits)

But this thread and peoples opinions have been VERY helpful.

Cool... If I had the time and resources then I would to. (Lord knows when Hasbro will quit dragging their feet with everything else)

Send me a note when you've finished. And if I could be more of an influence. I say use WFC Megatron.

    Mindset's bot mode looks horrible.
