Didn't know where to put this, but I picked this up today, the "DVD case" is a lot more detailed than I expected, it really doesn't show up in the pictures because of the color, but there's even an aztec pattern on the saucer section (which houses the two DVDs).

I was tempted by this, but would rather have something that looks nice on the shelf as a part of my library, than another model kit of the Enterprise.

Too bad that wasn't available for the BluRay. I'm not gonna buy it in an inferior format just for the cool case.

You can get the BluRay version in the same packaging, I saw it at Target!

I heard about this, but didn't know it looked so much like the Enterprise. Looks like I'll be stopping at Target tomorrow morning.

I just got the Blu-ray version. $24.99. Blu-ray regular 3 disc version, $19.99. The funny thing is that the DVD exclusive is $26.99 and the deluxe non exclusive DVD version is $22.99. They are both 2 disc, while the both Blu-ray versions is 3 disc. The single disc DVD version was $15.99.

Now I'm debating to pick up the Best Buy exclusive. It comes with 4 replica starfleet badges.

Crap! I was unaware of this. I've already bought it now though. No need in buying it twice just for the ship. :(

Very cool! But I'll stick with my $19.99 and sales-tax-free BD from Amazon.

I just assembled mine. Kinda sucks that you can't disassemble it after you build it. And I wish the saucer-halves were hinged together. But the detail is awesome.

Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges! (sorry couldn't resist :p  )

How does it open then? The top of the saucer section just lifts off or something?

It flips up and detaches. It does hold together pretty securely when it's closed. Now that I've messed around with it more it really is designed pretty well. Keeping it hinged would of probably made it more cumbersome.
