Tara Strong, voice of Sari Sumdac, Slo-Mo, Female Starscream, and several other Transformers Animated characters fell and broke her ankle severely enough that it required surgery. Details are available at ToonZone: Toon Zone: Tara Strong Injured In related news, you fans of Drawn Together (that Tara actually was the one to break the news back in February of this year that the series had been canceled) will be happy to know that Tara announced last week that she had started working on recording the dialog for the DT direct-to-DVD movie which will be released sometime in 2009. Ironically, she announced this the same day she fell and broke her ankle. I guess the news was too much for her.
I wish her a speedy recovery as well. She's my favouritest voice actress! But I ain't a fan of Drawn Together, that show is the epitome of unfunny.
I havent watched King of the Hill in years and I feel more for the loss of it than Drawn Together. Of course I feel that way about anything animated on Comedy Central with the exception of two or three episodes of South Park, but even that is pushing it. Oh yeah and broken ankle...that sucks. I had stress fractures in mine during Basic training and it hurt like the seven hells.
It's hit and miss for me as well, as an animation fan. But I also have met several of the cast on the show and I've been fans of them for years--I really just watch the show for their voice talents. ...although, I have enjoyed the occasional cartoon references, homages, and spoofs. Their parody of VeggieTales had me in tears.
Gah, KotH cancelled?! Unfortunately it looks like they're pulling it to make way for The Cleveland Show. A Family Guy spin-off. Oh yay.
Man, another awesome TF voice actor injured this year. Hope she feels better. Speaking of boss monkey, how is Gary Chalk (who I label the Pierce Brosnan of Optimus)now?
well its not nice she broke her ankle but on the upside unless she jumps around in the sound booth her work should go unaffected. i hope she has a speedy recovery and that the cleveland show fails. family guy and american dad is enough. dont need more spinoffs.
Wow. Bumped from the news forum. Way harsh. Garry Chalk makes frontpage from his accident earlier this year, but Tara's accident is relegated to a subforum post. So much for equal rights. At any rate, there was a server glitch getting the photos included in that article when it was published at ToonZone earlier today. It's now fixed and the photos are viewable.
True. Mel Blanc nearly died in a car accident in the early 60's and after he came out of his coma, he recorded whole seasons of "The Flintstones" as well as other shows and his characters at Warner Bros while still in a full body cast from his home. They set up a recording studio in his bedroom. Tara will just have some difficulty getting around and being able to do stuff on her own for a while until the cast comes off. She said she felt a little like a helpless invalid because one of the first days home in recovery she sat in the same place for most of the day not being able to do anything for herself.
That's...deeply upsetting news to me. I mean, I like her well enough for voicing Sari, sure. That she voiced Raven on Teen Titans makes me like her a a whole lot more on top of that. But the fact that she also voiced Bubbles on The Powerpuff Girls...well, let's just say that makes her literally the single most wonderful human being on this planet Earth, and therefore absolutely the last person I would ever wish any misfortune to befall. Luckily, because she is made of rainbows, sunshine and pure, radiant awesomeness, I'm sure she'll be up and running soon enough. Get well soon, Tara! ...what? Have I shared too much?
Hope she gets better soon. After Garry Chalk and now Tara, I'm thinking the TF community needs to chip in to hire some people to follow the voice actors around with some big pillows, ready to catch them whenever they take a tumble.
