Heres couple of photos of my figures.

I got ice cream truck too, just like Frenzy did.

Thanks to his comment, I got black plexiglass.

It wasnt that expensive, so I got one that's a suitable size for my light tent.

Took some shots on my toys.

and yeah, this creates a similar effect as Frenzy's photos!

Too bad my models aren't as good his customs :)

and I also assume he uses a professional camera than my DMC-FX36.

But this isn't that bad. I got pretty good photos for ice cream truck, others are a bit worse in my opinion... but yeah.

So If any of you guys can afford black plexiglass, try this.

What did you use for a backdrop? Because the photos of the ice cream truck looks different then the other ones.

nice work. the cheapest I can find black plexiglass in 16x16 inch squares is $15 per (double sided so twice the life) it scratches very easily, and honestly, I am replacing the plexi after about 10 customs photo shoots on each. Google up : your town + sign shop, and call around for prices. Only a few will sell you this stuff, especially not the "fast signs" or franchised type places. You'll need local joe's that are nice guys.

I also use black velvet as my backdrop. The tent(s) I have come with backdrops, however it's not as absorbent of light like velvet is. You can buy velvet precut or custom cut at ac moore, michaels, or fabric stores. It's quite expensive, but lasts forever. Never fold it up, only roll it up. Fol creases will show up on photos.

Here's a look at a light tent I snagged off ebay. I have this tent in both 16x16 inch, and 24x24 inch (for larger stuff)

Another tip is to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a piece of regular plexiglass and spray paint one side of it black. Just make sure your spray paint is for plastic and NOT a Laquer. Use the Krylon or Rusteloum for plastics. Cheaper and a lot more convenient.

    This^

Also since I have been getting a lot of requests I will go ahead and post mine.

Cause of some recent customs(RFTK) I had to double its size but I kind like the room it gives but hate the space it takes up , have to disassemble it each time.

yeah, one of the beautiful things about the setup cube I have is that it collapses flat, and has 2 pockets to hold the lights. stores flat, which is good for space.

Oh mine is just pipes so its the same thing, bought a cheap duffel bag and throw them all in there when I am not using it. Just hate how big I have it now waiting for everything from RFTK to finally finish is all. The beauty of my set up is also that I can go buy another piece of pipe and make the tent as big or as small as i like.

I've tried spraying the back of clear plexi and even glass with black (hoping to save a few bucks) the thing is, black plexi is less reflective, it actually has worked much better for me.

im not sure if this will work, but what about buying DIY Window Tint sheets? You can lay them over a plain sheet of plexiglass, itll provide protection from scratches and blackens your plexiglass. I havent tried it, but it seems like a cheapER alternative.

How do you guys avoid the seam at the back corner of the lightbox? I've done a couple of homemade type light boxes and also have a small 16" collapsible cube (like frenzy_rumble recommended) but both still show that back edge.
