Good read. I feel a little bad for disliking the new Scourge mold after actually reading from the guy who designed it though. (In all fairness though, it's not his fault if the plastic is cheap, so I still stand by that.) They both seem like cool guys, here.

^This. It's cool to hear those stories of how this or that was made. Like the clip system weapons and who was responsible for what figure. Always knew that Wheeljack was the intended use of the mold. Very good read indeed. Again, thanks for posting/translating!

Thanks! That was an interesting read. Wish I could read or speak Japanese for that matter. So I could understand the rest of the book.

Headmasters as a possible direction for Generations, eh? I wonder if this means an Arcee toy will come with Daniel....

I would definitely be down for one or two headmasters, as well as some of the Japanese-originated characters.

Barricade? This makes me wonder if there's going to be a classics Barricade, or if DOTM Barricade originated as a classics design.

It was also strange to read how some figures in the same line are deliberately designed to be more movieverse than others. There seems to be some indecision and compromise about the best overall approach to take.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these interviews! Thanks so much SydneyY!

It sounds like Hasbro would like new characters to be inspired by the realistic vehicle modes and wild robot modes of the movie series. Hasbro themselves doesn't appear able or willing to replicate the way their heads tend to look, unless they are working right from ILM concept art.

I didn't really think of Straxus as "movie-ish" before this, but now that they mention it he's not all that faithful to the original vehicle design (to be fair I don't know how that transformation could work) and has TONS of sculpted detail. Again though, his head is very classic/cartoony.

Also, I did notice the Scout-friendliness of his third mode quite awhile ago. I let Brakedown man it. Not many other choices for Classic-looking Decepticon Scouts (well, Rumble/Frenzy, but still waiting on my imported order from RK).

I'd believe the latter, but I'd want the former!

Mr. Hisashi Yuki designed Optimus Prime(War For Cybertron Mode). Why am I not surprised?

Very good interview, neat to read, great translation.
