Not sure how it will help Takara to have fewer orders, but OK :)

I think the Hasbro decos are garbage, ergo I won't be buying any figures except for Legends.

I would. I'm pretty certain Hasbro has gone off Big Box Sets in a big way following some poor sellers in the early days of CW which killed the development of the last two TR ones.

If people want the figures, they'll buy them locally. If they don't, they won't buy them. But ultimately, their market is the Japanese market, and so they don't care about international buyers of Japanese products. Will they sell less because of that? Possibly, but I doubt it'll be significant enough to matter. Only time will tell for sure though.

Because 3rd party will be Mp scale, look just like the cartoon, be actual power masters and combine as well as the show version. Not to mention go better with my over all collection.
I really wish Make toys would hurry up.

I was really hoping for UW releases for Volcanicus, Predaking, and Abominus. I guess I will have to settle for Hasbro. :(

If this is how things goes, maybe I will wait for SDCC Predaking instead of a retail release. Does Japan have something like SDCC where they release special decos of current releases?

    What they said^
I didn't often buy the LG stuff but there's been plenty of times where I've liked having an alternative to a Hasbro deco, like with Hardhead, Blitzwing, and Hot Rod, or have just enjoyed getting characters that Hasbro would probably never do, such as Black Convoy and Godbomber. It's a shame to no longer have the choice.

    Two things:

    1. Local Japanese collectors will be less likely to buy figures because (1) if the two are the same, they may have already imported the Hasbro version months before the Takara one is released and (2) they may share my opinion of Hasbro decos and simply forego buying them.

    2. Japanese e-tailers will now sell very few figures (only to international collectors who did not already buy Hasbro versions due to lack of availability), so they will order a lot less.

Now, will be reduced costs offset the loss of business from above two cases? Time will tell.

Thats exactly why I loved it too. I rarely get Legends figures, but the ones I do are usually always the exclusives or the ones who have vastly different paint applications.

I was so excited to see if Takara would make new figures/repaints to fill out the combiner teams. Now I’ll not only have a hole in my heart but holes in my collection I may never be able to fill.

Remember guys, Buster & Hydra are almost identical to Darkwing & Dreadwind. Just a couple bits need to be painted red. Easiest custom jobs ever. Even if you're not good at customizing you can do this job. Just watch a couple instructional videos. If I were set up to make videos I'd post one specifically for these 2. Because they've been at the top of my want list for years. So I'm definitely making them. I already have an extra Dreadwind ready to go, just waiting for Darkwing.

Look at Dreadwind's wings and get back to me. The turquoise parts are also all pinned or bolted on.

And I still think they ought to resculpt the forearms and shinlegs to do them proper justice.
Hasbro's Dreadwind simply has Skydive limbs.

Withholding Dreadwind, Darkwing, or any of the Dinobots from the initial wave just feels like the worst kind of Gotcha! at this point.

I'm disappointed. Was hoping for Buster and Hydra in addition to Dreadwind and Darkwing because I like having more characters in my collection, and of course, I've wanted a cartoon colored Abominus for most of my adult life and it appears that wait will continue for the foreseeable future.

I was looking forward to a "UW 2.0" comic..... On the plus side, I won't get "buyer's remorse" from getting the Hasbro Abominus and then finding Takara has a better paint job for theirs. Would have liked a 'toon colored version though...

Has there ever been an official statement by either company as to why they are going forward with this unified line? I'm curious to hear the spin put on it.

I almost never go for Takara, but I really was holding out for a proper Liokaiser. Not that the Hasbro one was absolutely dire, torso aside. But I'd hate to have a situation where I got stuck with, say, Hasbro's Computron as my only option.
