You may have a point with the loss of the car mode because it is one thing the original could do that the new version can't, but that jet mode has always only been "barely there" for Optimal.

the improved articulation really make it shine as a optimus primal it sucks but as a optimal optimus is a thriumph

 

The deluxe takes the place of the original's backpack. Almost exactly.

In terms of an update, it's hard to argue for how you could have improved upon the original without having to jack up the price on the leader class as it is.

And I know it's a matter of personal taste, but the Deluxe gimmick isn't about turning into something that references an old form. That's why Pax comes from Prime's cab.

Rodimus only works by accident since his original G1 toy already could break into a smaller bot and a trailer. PotP Prime has always felt like the true update to PMOP.

We have to get used to the evolution gimmick being about a piece of the larger figure turning into the deluxe bot, and the design having to accommodate that. I think we'd have seen more of this with Thunderwing, Deathsaurus, and maybe even Megatron and Shockwave had they won.

Another gorila? really? After the dozens we have gotten, reissues, new molds, exclusives, MASTERPIECES, it's time to have something different.

And it is looking primising, would i've liked better a Deathsaurus or Saber? absolutely, but this doesn't mean we won't get them anytime soon. (to be honest, people would shit on it if he was based on his IDW incarnation).

All of my beast wars figures are now starting to flake. I'm glad they're not doing that stuff anymore. I can't wait for my Jetfire to start doing it.

I\'m quite looking forward to Optimal Optimus. Sure he needs more paint and I wish Primal himself had a beast mode along with swords, but I think the set looks solid overall. Pretty good size with nicer proportions than the original and multiple features that homage all three of Primal\'s forms. Plus I like seeing the designers get creative for a change.

Never a rumor, but originally it felt like Snapdragon could have been modeled off of Galvatron. It's weird that particular mold never got reused.

 

Weirdwolf never got any retool or repaint either. I still can’t believe that NO ONE did a Marvel/toy colored Galvatron from that mold. Wasn’t it said somewhere that Galvatron was originally for another line and got retooled for TR?
