I just got a mail from a contact in Japan.

    The information I got:
    - Takara held a business talk meeting for spring yesterday.
    - The information posted on TFormers might be taken from a Japanese message board. Of course, without a source cited, it's hard to tell.
    - He (my contact) doesn't think there's necessarily a deeper meaning, because "surprise project" appears to be a cliché term fot Takara (?).
    - He does hope it will indeed be something major, though he wouldn't exactly hold his breath.

Last I knew, Takara was just going ahead on schedule with a "re-issue" every 3rd month and waiting on Hasbro's next move (see: Beast Wars 10th Anniv, possible G1 Neo line, etc.)

I would be overjoyed if the "suprise project" meant any of the following:

    1.more g1 resissues
    2.Diaclone reissues
3.new characters from g1 like arcee
    4. diecast beast wars
    5. A new masterpiece figure

As most of the previous posts say, this surprise is probably just the G1-Neo line. And as many others have pointed out, the fact that Primus is going to be in G1-esque packaging lends support to this theory. So if we're due to start seeing these in August (according to the Target listings - yes, I know I'm assuming that the TF Classic line is this, but damn it, it's a safe assumption to make at this point), I'm guessing that Japan will see these May or June. Not only do they usually see lines a few months before the west, but aside from BWR they've got no new main line toys on the shelves. And with the movie preparations, other lines, and the mixing the Tomy and Takara entities, to assume it's something new beyond G1 Neo would really be stretching them too thin.

It's not a myth, when Gonzo took the reigns they wanted to start fresh; didn't like picking up from another company's story (not necessarily a slam on their predecessor). Takara was fine with this, Hasbro was not, but in true HasTak form, Hasbro was ignored. Though I fully understand that to the GF toy designer, this was a continuation. The characters and their designs were clearly meant to continue on from Micron and Super Link, and there's no doubt that when he oversaw the designing of them that was the plan.

Prepare to be stoned to death by the collective fandom if you ever dare post that video again.

I am actually cool with this lull before the storm I need to catch up with my Cybertron stuff before I can get new stuff But it would be nice to see some bases made like the Ark and the axalon and so forth And I for one would love to see the Diaclone stuff rereleased along as with the othe Japanese exclusives like Minerva and Raiden
