    Is there a reason that Takara gets all the cool G1 decos(not to mention chrome) on there Universe 2.0? And us here in the States get these slightly off color less cool-ones.
    Like Ironhide, the henkei version of him has a nicer red color and the yellow stripe, not to mention a silver face. Or Cyclones color pattern.
    What I'm relly asking is---Does Takara have first pick on color scheme and chrome pars? Or does Hasbro like to make "creative" differences? Are there copyrights laws involved?

    I think it's just a stylistic choice.
    Hasbro seems to more do "reinvention" type decos while takara goes with G1+chrome.

    I normally like the Hasbro versions more. Especially on the ones where Takara puts the chrome in weird places. There's also the fact that the hasbro versions are cheaper for me to buy.

    One word: Budget.

    Also: Hasbro aims for "reinvention". Takara aims for "slavish Geewun rehash".

    The dollar has the final word in any company. A lot of people think Hasbro is THEIR very own personal toy company.

    Takara vs Hasbro?

    I'd put money on Hasbro. As Takara is by and large only people of Japanese nationality, the Hasbro people are probably at least a few inches taller and definately have more weight on them. Long reach plus more mass means this fight is over in the 3rd Round.

    Takara will probably be up on points before the KO though.

    But the Americans are more likely to be overweight, whereas the Japanese might be ninjas.

    Takara could totally eat more hot dogs than Hasbro could.

    Well, I guess no one likes chrome that much so Takara has to go G1-esque to get good sales.

    The collectors market is much bigger in japan, so they can afford to put more paint, and thus, charge more money for it.

    Takara= aimed more towards collectors.

    Hasbro= aimed more towards kids.

    That is pretty much the most basic reason behind the differences between the two. Personally I prefer Hasbro products, as they have a more updated/modern look, compared to the completely slavishness of most, if not all, of Takara's products. That and I'm not a fan of chrome, so their pointless use of it on their Henkei figures just adds another big reason onto the list of why I prefer Hasbro's versions.

    Personally I don't like the random chrome Takara uses. The only time I think chrome actually looked decent on a Transformer was during RiD, but even that was pushing it.

    "Cool" is a subjective term. Personally, I prefer the Hasbro versions.

    As many have said, Hasbro is going for more realistic decos and paint apps, while Takara is going for the original "G1" look, but with chrome. It's all in the marketing strategy.

    Transformers in Japan is largely a collector-oriented line, while Hasbro aims for children and collectors (mostly the former).

    And the blue face on Universe Ironhide is an error that is being fixed with a running change in production. Hasbro has said that Ironhide was always supposed to have a silver face.

    Takara probably invests more in their products decos because they are a smaller company and produce less product in general. They are only really putting out Henkei right now so they can invest more money into the paint applications.

    I purchase both the US and Japanese versions of every toy, and there is absolutely no clear winner when it comes to non-subjective criteria like quality control. Everything outside of that is just personal preference.

    I see we can still count on good old Nevermore to leap in with the "Takara is always wrong" viewpoint ::rolls eyes::

    Always bugs me when people pull the "random chrome" line. This may be true on a minority of Takara figures, but on most Henkei the chrome is used to good effect eg. on weapons.

    I sometimes feel most of the Takara naysayers are either those who can't afford 'em, or who are too tight to do so. I'm sure its not the case for most of you, but some posters sound like they have sour grapes when bashing...
