Takara Transformers Legends Greatshot and Grand Maximus Announced - Transformers News - TFW2005
It was an incentive if the preorders topped a certain level: 2000 and Grand Max gets made, 3000 you get the bonus decoy shell.

Grand Max made the 2000 preorders easy:

Legends Grand Maximus Confirmed for Production and Artwork revealed - Transformers News - TFW2005
But he didn't get to 3000:

Takara Legends EX Grand Maximus Preorder Bonus Update - Transformers News - TFW2005
So, we believe, no decoy suit :-(

God, the whole preorder thing is crap. You're buying a ridiculously expensive exclusive redeco and it doesn't even come with the unique accessory! Takara really pulled some BS here. Atleast Greatshot is really nice.

You realize it costs takara money to make these figures right? So to gaurentee a return in their investment (making the figure) they need a gaurentee of a certain amount of orders. It’s not bs and makes plenty of sense

Didn't you have me on Ignore because of the last time you acted like a moron and I called you out on it?

In any case, I'd rather air my greivances on Takara's poor handling of this particular exclusive than cry, but thanks for the offer.

Takara Tomy isn’t even asking for more money for the limited exclusive. Grand Max is the same price as the MSRP for Fort Max.

On topic: since I already have 2 Greatshots arriving soon..its not out of the realm of logic and possibility I will eventually get 4 more to complete all 6 modes to put on display. Lol

You'd have a point if the Decoy Suit was a unique tooling that would only be made if the preorders reached that amount and were required to fund the production, but given that the suit was a pretooling of the Micronus mold who is clearly NOT originally intended as Grand Maximus (and was therefore clearly not produced for this toy), I find the idea that it would have been an expensive addition a touch dubious. It doesn't really help that the Decoy Suit was what really set Grand Maximus apart from Fortress Maximus either.

If it doesn't bother you, that's good for you... but for me it'd feel like buying an incomplete toy, which ironically is why I got the Legends Fortress Maximus instead of the Titan Returns version.

No it actually costs time and material to produce the figure itself, not just the new molds
The decoy suit was a preorder incentive to entice more preorders, they were pretty straightforward about it. Not sure why that’s hard to understand

Its fine when 3rd party companies or Hasbro screw over fans with underhanded tactics. Why do Takara haters always comment in the first place on a minor issue like this? Go fuck yourselves haters.

Is mp11 a two foot tall figure that retails for $250 (we’re talking takara prices not hasbro) and is an obscure repaint? Nope it’s not. Mp11 is actually one of the most well known characters and is a gaurenteed seller. So I don’t see what point you’re trying to make

I used my points to bring grand max down to $148. Plus with Greatshot, not a bad deal in my eyes.

Takara-Tomy has been sneaky in my view. Some of their QC could be way better. I own lots of Takara stuff as well. Luckily I’ll stay away from certain broken figures like movie masterpiece Prime. I think it’s a good month for transformers fans.
