Amazon.co.jp has setup preorders for Takara-Tomy’s Transformers Prime line. Sadly, it looks like Japan won’t be seeing these bad boys until after Christmas, December 28th :(  Looks like, I’ll have to shop eBay this year for Christmas. I was hoping I could get my kids a few of these (the Takara versions) before Christmas, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

    Bulkhead (yes, Bulkhead)

Hmm. I may have to get Takara Bulkhead for Classics and use Hasbro Bulkhead for Prime. Hmm indeed.

The gray looks to be a darker tone as well. Hasbro's gray looks totally cheap.

Call me crazy, but that's worth the extra money for me. If I'm only getting one Prime, uh, Prime toy, it better be tops.

Generally, Takara stuff is more expensive and aimed towards collectors. The photo I posted above is still just a promotional image, so the final product may not look exactly like that.

That Prime actually looks nice. Looks like the initial pics had them a bit darker than the official pics make them seem. Will wait to see in-person shots, but if these don't show up outside of TRU in the states I'll probably spring for the Takara Prime Prime.

Hasbro has to produce many more toys than Takara, and sell them for a cheaper price than Takara, so they often pick a cheaper-but-sort-of-accurate color scheme as opposed to a more-accurate-but-more-expensive plastic.

The paintjob for Hasbro version of Meg seems to have more silver compare to TakaraTomy version

I can't even consider the Takara versions over the Hasbro ones until I see some in hand comparison pics. All we've seen so far is photoshopped goodness, which can often be quite misleading.

Even though is photoshopped pics but i guess the pics can't be really that far from the real toy itself.

Prime looks a lot better with the different gray and that deep blue. Shame his red isn't metallic, or he'd be a must buy like Bulkhead.

Well, I'm going to wait for the larger version myself - hopefully TT gives him a better paint job.

For that matter, we probably haven't seen the last of the voyager Prime mold either. I bet TT gives us a shinier version down the road, too.

It'll be hard to be patient, though...

I don't know if it's the lighting or me, but I think I see something going on with the red in Prime's paint, a sparkle of some sort, similar to his paint scheme in the show. If true, this is going to be one bad @$$ toy!
