Even in higher-res pictures, I still hate that torso. It's gappy, it's oddly-shaped, and it appears to be accompanied by yet another bloody backpack. I wouldn't be surprised if half the truck folds up on the back like how Sunstreaker transforms. The grill looks too short now, too. I still think MP-01 nailed the grill more than MP-10 and this one, without even having to parts-form.
The hands are definitely an improvement, but who the hell thought it was a good idea to put the thumbs on a single hinge in such an awkward way?
I didn't realise people weren't allowed opinions any more. Sorry about that, Mr. Thought Police!

    Haha! SERIOUSLY.

Playing with MP-10 Optimus Prime stresses me out mildly for this reason.

This toy looks great! Love that head!

Personally, I love extremely involved transformations arriving at near perfect accuracy. The more engaged I am in solving these puzzles, the happier I am. ;) .
This big fella looks to be a new take on the well-worn path of Optimus-transformations. I'm excited to learn how they've realized capturing this new level of character fidelity.

Complex and involved transformations are great, but they also have to be fun. It’s been a long time since a Takara transformation wasn’t fun, and this is the main difference for me between them and someone like saaaaaay fanstoys.

I’d rather have real truck parts making up the bot mode that screen accuracy with faux parts

Well, you're the first to bring that up with this new pic. Just sayin'.

Fair enough! I haven't wandered down the 3rd party path...too expensive for me already just keeping up with this main gang.

I will say that MP-5, and MP-9 (and to a lesser extant MP-20) are both less fun, for me, because of the anxiety of damaging the toy.

So yeah, complex, intuitive, AND rugged, please.

    :)

    I'm excited for this one!

At this point why not just sell a toy truck and an articulated robot. It does not transform in the traditional sense, it turns inside out. It's like a weird glorified shellformer.

Well then, this looks absolutely stunning!
The hands are great and I love the natural articulation they seem to have given them.
Finally a Prime that can point at stuff and give a thumbs up.

Transformation looks like it'll be properly involved. Can't wait to find out more.

    Bring on the digibashes! XD

I'm also not complaining, like I never complained about any such perceived issue with Megatron. Just an observation of the general turn some of the fandom takes, that's all.

Looks nice, but the back it's an eyesore.

Also, pointless gimmick for the gun.

Yeah, man, I cannot wait to learn more about this guy's engineering. Little joints all over the place here! The joint above the wrist for a panel on the outside of the forearm, one on the bicep, tons all over the legs... Pretty extensive MP-10 remold! ;)

But why? This simply makes no sense. Allow me to elaborate. See in g1, unlike in other parts of the franchise, the cybertronians looked the same in robot mode no matter what alt. mode they assumed. It therefore makes sense for them to utilize fake parts when assuming an alternate form that requires the robot mode parts that just happen to looks similar to alt. mode parts ;)  to change shape. This isn’t like prime or the bayverse where when a bot assumes a new alt. mode the parts of it become a part of their robot mode.

Okay, I was on the fence but this does look really good. I'll just display MP-10 in vehicle mode then.

How dare Takara makes transforming robots to achieve accuracy. How dare them!

A lot of people don't give a flying flip about slavish accuracy to a sloppy, inconsistent 80's cartoon and just wanted to replace MP-10 with a better-proportioned, better-articulated Optimus Prime. This might be better articulated with better-proportioned legs and a nicer rifle, but the figure is aesthetically compromised because they had to leave blatant seams all over the place just to, ironically enough, remove details from the robot mode.

    I... actually kinda like it.

It's like TT is bragging about how many pieces can be completely replaced between modes so you can have the super clean, animation-style robot mode and detailed "real car" truck mode with rivets and ridges and shit. It's like the whole thing turns inside out. Two different aesthetics in one.

I mean, this is MP Prime take three, they'd better be trying something new. I've got two other interpretations of the big guy that go for 'toon-inaccurate detail. Let this one experiment.

Is it really that seam-y? There's some on the legs and the pelvis, and some around the windows (but those always have seams) but he looks pretty clean.

Looks great to me. I am interested to see how his back looks. Interesting to see how the truck folds up back there. Truck mode looks amazing! Sign me up for 2!
