It looks to me like the Autobot symbol on Whirl's chest is a sticker, like the Hasbro version. There's an outline to it but clear rather than white / silver which implies a sticker. Unless, perhaps this is just a mock up using the Hasbro version and the final version has a painted symbol.
They tend to be in these first images, since it's a hand painted gray resin prototype or Hasbro's painted over in Takara's colors. It should likely be painted in the final version. Randy
Tankor is lookin' way too metallic to me. Seems like my guess was correct, and Roadbuster got a bit of eye paint to look more visor-y, less Vehicon. I like that (enough to touch up the Hasbro toy when I get one. )
Beeeeeecause outside of the Arms Micron line and MP-12G, they haven't really used stickers in quite some time and already have a reputation for painting or tampoing stuff that Hasbro won't?
Yup, the only figures that ever use stickers are: Arms Micron Masterpiece optional stickers (Tigertrack, G2 Sideswipe, Silverstreak) Encore releases Even the Encore releases had some stickers replaced with painted details. Randy
I think I really am going to get Tankor. I for one really despise stickers. I still haven't applied any of Whirl's on yet.
Good timing on those pics since the Japanese e-tailers put up their pre-orders. Really looking forward to Tankor now.
I prefer this Roadbuster to Hasbro's. Is that green light piping? Got this and Ultra Magnus ordered from HLJ so should be a nice Christmas present. btw I like stickers... like the Eness ones for Jazz or Reprolabels for Maketoys Seaspray.
After careful consideration, I canceled my preorder for Hasbro Roadbuster and Sky-Byte and preordered Legends Roadbuster instead from HLJ. The price is nearly identical to Hasbro's, it looks slightly nicer, there are no stickers (a huge plus in my book), and I now have more funds for the newly announced FP Sludge preorder in August.
people like reprolabels cause hasbro always skimps on paint. if they could choose between paint apps or stickers, they would choose paint apps.
