    Thanks for the reply!

While I don't agree on all counts, that makes sense. But I have a counter point. I can write a letter to Takara voicing my support. Because for every person that objects, there's one who enjoys it. And for every two of you and I, I can promise you there's a thousand more who just don't care. Stop trying to take away what I actually like. There's 35 years and a bajillion and one iterations of killer death robits from Mars. Let me have my highschool girl robits. Please.

Yea I'm filing a complaint because I want to prevent Takara from being triggered by claims of collusion and also defamation by being called "Bakara".

Has anyone tried mounting the targetmasters somehow on Blurr?

    Because Japan's sovereignty matters too.

America's a little different in that we have, sort of, a bottom-up layering of government rather than top-down. The federal level is supposed to have a couple of major responsibilities like running the army and printing money, while the local layers micromanage how often you mow your lawn. Unfortunately, every "state's rights" advocate has their pet issue(s) that they'd use federal power to foist on everybody else. So we get to see some of that "global society" thinking within our own borders.

Long story short - I don't want you dictating my entertainment choices so I don't try to dictate yours.

I think you should write to Takara. However, the issue we are discussing is a little different, isn't it? With regards to, say, complaining about any old manga, it anime, is that usually these are not always assumed at, or sold to children, right? For example, Neon Genesis Evangelion is far more likely, and understood to have, adult themes, right?

However, in the case of these comics, they came with toys aimed at and sold to children to use.

Also, I don't agree with simply letting things go unchallenged. Just as people are voicing their opinions (either way) here at this site, so too can people be expected to voice their opinions constructively to those responsibly for that content.

Did you know that it was (arguably) foreign pressure that led to Japan only recently making it illegal to own or distribute child pornography? I'm not talking Kiss Players here, but actual photos and videos of children being sexually abused. Even now, there are caveats, which is where debate relating to conics like this find themselves. Of course, the Takara comic IS NOT pornography, but I think it's safe to say we can understand that there is a link, particularly in the themes and issues relating to them. The question of artistic freedom for what has been labelled "virtual child porn" (which IS illegal in other developed countries, except Japan) relates to the issues of artistic freedom in any artistic piece, such as this comic.

As for Japan being an island onto itself, that is not true. It's a member of the UN, making its laws and conduct applicable to international scrutiny, and as such, the UN has pressured Japan to change.

In business, too, no country is exempt. Just as Hasbro changed "Spastic" and "Slag" due to international concerns, then so too have Japanese companies changed their content due to groups complaining. Recently, Japanese females complained about a sexist portrayal of women in a tourism campaign, while (ANA?) airlines withdrew a racist advert portraying whites in a derogatory way. Not even Japanese companies are in a vacuume or immune from the international world today, as they have international ties and relationships.

EDIT: - Big thanks to the poor mod who took the time to pop all of my replies together. As you might know, I really can't multiquote via my browser/phone, so they've been very kind to "mop up my mess". Thanks! That also means I can't always reply to every reply to me, as it often looks like I'm spamming the boards

The topics being debated include both the toys and the comics that came with them. I would recommend that, to avoid anyone debating too much about either, maybe we could find an alternative? What do people think about suggesting a split between toy news discussion and a separate thread for the comics? Would that help?
If so, I'd be happy to (email?) the site to suggest it?

Anyway, my Kup had a loose grip in its right hand, so I had to add varnish inside it for him to hold the targetmaster.

    Anyone else?

Who the heck is the red robed girl and why does she get naked?
Otherwise, this actually makes me remember "Brad Mick" and Dreamwave G1 Volume 2 - so many speech boxes, you can barely see what the hell is going on! :D

On the note of the whole thing being perverted and the "let's write to takara" stuff - guys, Takara makes Legends for lonely otakus in their 30ies-40ies, not us western gaijin and especially not at kids - as you can guess from the price point, plus how little any japanese kid would know about G1 Transformers in a country where 20 other anime about giant robots is on TV all the time. They could not care less about our opinion. Hell, officially they don't even sell their toys to any market outside Japan so why should they adhere to laws that they aren't subjected to?

Btw, is that the real, targetmaster Fracas the Sweep is using at the end? Looks a bit redesigned... Makes me think Takara might release that with another Deluxe in the future...

Am I only the only 1 that thinks Kiss Players is fine?

Firstly, it is Japan. I read that they have entire departmental stores dedicated to porn...

Secondly, Binaltech was targeted to adults. So by extension Kiss Players too.

Finally, so yes, Legends is targeted to both adults and children. So again, this is Japan where Bulma flashed without panty in Dragonball. So what is the big deal with a little perverted fan service?

The underlying issue with Kiss Players was of course not just "adult content" but more the intentional rape and pedophilia imagery used with the intent of titillating its audience. As much as I dislike Sakamoto's sexualization of everyone with a vagina, robotic or otherwise, it's not at all comparable to Kiss Players.

Are they, though? We we have the takara numbers to back them up like we do Hasbro? Takara just released two Masterforce decos of Hot Rod within two months. That's a really old show. Japan doesn't have the... (Looking for the polite word for IDW fanatics) comic fanbase that we do. They don't sell toys marketed to children like we do. I'm not saying they aren't getting into their hands. I'm just saying it's not a 1:1 analogy.

Not entirely true. You can draw whatever you want in the US. It just depends on what you label it and where it is hosted. Drawings are classified as art, and that's a whole nother briar than photos. You won't get arrested for comics.

Wow.. Kup and Roddy. I\'ll be having them this mid-October.
I pre-ordered this after I saw Targetmasters inclusion.

While Legends Arcee and Blurr, i\'ll be getting it next year (pre-ordered it way way back)

    But after seeing POTP Hot Rod/Rodimus, I was like.. \"Damn, I pre-ordered Legends Roddy.\"
But then I realized that the Legends\' target master could do a big favor to the upcoming POTP Rodimus.
Maybe the TM\'s pegs could fit to POTP & Deluxe/Leader Roddy\'s hand peg holes.

According to the Takara Tomy website, Hotrod's target age group is "15+". I cannot find data for the actual LEGAL minimum toy age that this is allowed to be sold to, so I'll consult my toy packaging later. Still, although 15 isn't young children, it IS still a child demographic. Also, as far as I can tell, an "adult" in Japan is classed as someone over the age of 20, I believe.

That's not true. The possession of "legal" manga in Japan can be a crime in the USA.

*sigh* I'm going to take my own advice; since this thread has become a bunch of arguing I don't care about, I'm going to ignore it and not come back to it. I only trolled around here looking for the comic/bio scans and I have those now. Thanks again to the person who scanned them in and i hope you scan the bios/comics for future Legends releases!!! I'll troll around those NEW threads when it's time for new Legends releases.

It's sad how ironically that comic is calling the kettle black.
Pretending to be argueing against a modern fad, while being the modern fad.

Producing content that depicts children as sexual prey, women as lustobjects, beating orphans or people with a mental disability to death and other such "innocent art" serves no purpose but harmfull ones.
There is no reason why such things should be allowed and if you like such things you should be questioning your reasons for doing so.
It should be clear to an adult that what you like and what is harmless or good is not by definition the same thing.
There are good reasons why not everything should be allowed.
A couple of decennia ago our society started to get out of it's moral comfy seat and we started to scrutinise the entertainment industry and the people who got their money from it.
    Why has this stopped?
Any kind of information has an impact.
Creators and distributors tend to deny and ridicule this when it might get them in trouble and flaunt it when it might get them praise.
Creators of content and distributors of content should be responsible with what they create and distribute.
And if they are not responsible they should be held responsible.

Comparing Kiss Players to actual child pornography is just stupid and not worth my time replying to such nonsense.

Well, except this reply, of course.

Can we get off our high horse and get back to talking about the toys, please?

If I was a kid and my toy came with a comic with a PG-13 level naked hot anime girl in it, I'd be thrilled. I might enjoy the comic more than the toy.

    No issues with mine.

It's Blowpipe, who is getting released with Triggerhappy at the end of the month. Blowpipe was also the Targetmaster (in gun mode) featured in the latest online manga.

Who is Blowpipe for? I can't remember. Also, is Fracas getting released?
