Misassembly on Kup.

These leg panels are assembled on the wrong sides and should be swapped. However, it looks like quite a bit of work is needed.

TR Kup isn't to hand and Legends Kup is en route but my Orion Pax has the same fault

A quick look at Kup's review thread shows the same fault in pictures there and I can even see it on the cardback image linked there!

Whoops, hope somebody gives Takara a heads up on this! (Even though it looks kinda hard to tell which side's supposed to be where...)

Yikes, it must have cost a pretty penny for that armada of Sweeps and Sharkticons...

 

It's a lot more obvious in the plastic now you know it's there but seems to have escaped anyone's notice on the previous two versions before now!

 

Does this misassembly cause any problems with transformation?

 

None whatsoever, as proven by nobody spotting it for ..... 6+ months! It's just an aesthetic thing. But when you see it you can't unsee it!

 

I have both Hasbro and TakaraTomy versions and have no issues transforming him.

 

Got both Hot Rod and Kup through today. I have to say, Hot Rod is a lot better in-hand than I was expecting, which I believe was the response a lot of people had to the TR figure when it came out. The translucent flame doesn't even look as bad as I thought it would. Gorgeous colour schemes on both and they fit brilliantly with the rest of the Classics 86 movie crew, my only complaint would be that they don't come with non-Targetmaster weapons, but I know that's a draw for a lot of people.

 

Damn it, Japan! I thought we'd left KISS Players behind! Will someone PLEASE get Shaoshao Li some underwear? PLEASE!

Does anyone know if there are written directions on how to do the swapping? I don't think the pictures are enough for me to know what to do. Like what's that silver tool being used?

 

Wow. It's amazing that no one has caught that before now.

I see it, I understand it, but frankly, I don't care.

 

After Kiss Players, all the girls realized that wearing underwear was pretty pointless.

Oh well. Mainly getting this Kup/Cha for the Targetmaster anyway.

Aaaaand as I suspected, Hot Rod's chest didn't last long, being made out of translucent plastic.

The tight grip between his torso and chest piece meant I had to apply a good amount of force pulling it out for vehicle mode, which resulted in a nasty crack through part of the flame the third time I did it.

I'd suggest filing the sides of the tabs on his chest piece before transforming him too much, if this kind of tight tolerance is widespread.
