I did a search and didn't see that anyone had mentioned this so please forgive me if this was already known. But I found a link to a page of a magazine scan which shows that Takara is bringing back Beastformers again. Here's a link to the pictures. The page is not in English. Because Beastformers were featured in the 5th episode of Transformers Headmasters titled "Rebellion on Planet Beast".
Awesome! I'd be up for a new line of Beastformers (obviously I like the things, as my avatar implies). And these look a lot more faithful to the look and feel of the originals than other recent attempts (the minimates version, the little statues we saw protos of a while back, etc.). I consider my Battle Beast collection to essentially be part of my G1 collection. If these end up being released, I think I'll consider them part of Classics. EDIT: Looks like instead of rubsigns they might have gone with separate chest panels on these. I wonder if they rotate like Bot Shots'.
I believe the toys were connected TFs on the packaging in Japan too. Also appeared in the Dreamwave comics. Basically in Japan Battle Beasts were a spin-off of Transformers and shared the TF universe. -ZacWilliam, wish Hasbro had done that here too. It would have been neat, though I liked them plenty as a kid even without that.
They're coming back to the US too... And IDW is doing the comic. C2E2: Bobby Curnow Unleashes "Battle Beasts" at IDW - Comic Book Resources Also apparently no connection to Transformers. http://battlebeasts.infernalmachinery.com/
Now that's a line I could get behind. I've always wanted to collect Battle Beasts. Hope this happens soon, like this year.
^see Takara Transformers packaging. Ah yes the Bat-Pirate. Along with he Lio Convoy-ish Beast looking lion. Articulated and extremely detailed BB's would be awesome!
I was never into Battle Beasts as a kid but I found one at a playground. I don't remember which one though. After watching Headmasters I had developed an appreciation for them. I only have a few but I do have my favorite: Pirate Lion. I hope we get him and some of the others that appeared in Headmasters.
Ah, cool, wasn't aware of that. Everything old is new again, I guess. They can say that all they want, but if new toys come out, they're going next to my TF's.
